Think Twice Before Buying a Fuji Digital Camera !!!
Fuji may not honour their one year warrantly ! I purchased a Fuji FinePix 2800 2.1 megapixel 6X Zoom in February of 2002. I loved this camera, it took really nice pictures (see my Mustang Site) and was pretty easy to use. The camera came with a one year warranty. The purchase price was $699.00 CAN from London Drugs, Kelowna, BC, Canada.
Then in October of 2002 it stopped working, absolutely no power, nothing.
We took it back to London Drugs in Kelowna shortly thereafter (Nov. 04). They told us it should be back within 4 - 6 weeks. Fine, we would have it by Christmas!
Just before Christmas we gave them a call about the status of our camera. They has no idea but said they would call us back with the information. Of course, they never did.
Christmas came and passed without our camera. We called London Drugs again, they gave us the number to Fuji Cameras in Canada. Fine.
We called Fuji the first week of January, knowing that our 1 year warranty time was soon to expire.
Fuji told us they would not honour the warranty because some "substance" was inside the camera apparantly coming up through the tri-pod mount.
This is rediculous ! I babied that camera like it was an infant, it was never in any kind of fluid or any other substance at any time. They wanted $131.00 for us to fix a camera that was under warranty. We said "No Thanks". I was not about to throw money at a camera that was obviously not built well.
And anyway, how could any substance get through the tri-pod mount of any well built camera?
In my mind, Fuji shafted us. The warranty claim was totally legitimate and now I am without a camera and the $699.00 it costs me.
I will be pursuing this further and will let you know what develops. This is a warning to all those considering a digital camera.
Think twice before deciding on a Fuji !!!!!
