Cub Scout Pack 363
January, 2004Newsletter

Graphite makes the world go 'round:

This Friday, Jan. 16, is the pack's Pinewood Derby race. It begins at 6 p.m. in Crestwood Christian Church's new gymnasium. There will be competitions by age groups (Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos) and for Best Paint and Best Design. Everyone who enters will get a participation ribbon.

Trophies will go to the first-place winners in each category.

Then there will be an overall competition, with trophies for the top three finishers, who will go on the deistrict finals.

There also will be a comptition for cars made by adults.

This salute to aerodynamics and gravity will be our pack meeting for January. Bear Den 3 will present the colors. The Wolves will lead us in the Scout promise and--something new--Bear Den 2 will retire the colors. Webelos I and Tigers will do cleanup.

Also at the Derby:

Your last chance to buy chances to win three lower-arena tickets to see the Wildcats play Alabama. The game is Feb. 10 at Rupp. The tickets are provided by Jeff Wiseman, with proceeds going to the pack.

Scout Sunday:

That's Feb. 1, the day each year on which members of the pack are encouraged to attend the 10:45 a.m. service at Crestwood. Scouts should wear their uniforms, bring their families and sit down front.

The annual Blue-Gold Banquet:

An evening of good food and fun, is scheduled for February 10.

This year, we are planning a "Scouting the Globe" theme. Each den will represent another country that has Cub Scouts.

Here’s how it came out:

Judges will award prizes to the two best efforts.

Another Room:

Dens that have been meeting in the exercise room at Crestwood will be moving to some other room (den leaders should have details soon). We have to move to make room for exercise equipment. Hence, the name.

Cubs on the web:

Don't forget to visit the Pack 363 web site: www.angelfire.com/ky3/pack363 There you will find useful information and links, and hints on making Pinewood Derby cars roll like the wind.

You also can find this newsletter, and as well as the last couple of issues. If you have photos or ideas for other links, send them to webmaster Connie Lane at Ctriway@aol.com.

No Nose:

Cubmaster Roger Lane's "Nose to the Wind" column does not appear in this issue. Look for its return next month.
