Hash Brown Casserole

2 pound bag thawed hash browns
1 teaspoon salt
16 ounce sour cream
12 ounce chedder cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tablespoonscup butter
pepper
1 onion diced
1/4 cup melted butter
crushed corn flakes

Mix all ingredients except 1/4 cup melted butter, crushed corn flakes and potatoes. Add potatoes last. Mix well. Top with crushed corn flakes mixed with 1/2 cup melted butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
