2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda mixed into 1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder

Cream sugar and shortening together. Add remaining ingredients. mix well. Add enough flour to make thick dough. Drop by teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.
