Here is the "socket" in place. Take note of the "notch" on the left and the notched outline on the board. Your chip will also have a notch in it as will the socket. Be sure they all match.

Even though the socket allows you take the chip in and out, you still have to be very careful removing the chip as well as when putting it in. Be sure to remove each side of the chip as equally as you can. Have Patience or you will wind up breaking a pin! Here is a perfect example.
