JAMES BROLIN IS NOMINATED TO GUEST-STAR AS REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER
TO PRESIDENT IN SEASON FINALE OF NBC’S ‘THE WEST WING’

BURBANK - May 8, 2002 - James Brolin (“Traffic,” “Pensacola: Wings of Gold”) will guest-star on NBC’s “The West Wing” (Wednesdays, 9-10 p.m. ET) as a governor and Republican presidential challenger to Chief Executive Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen) in the May 22 season finale of the Emmy Award-winning series.

Brolin will first appear in the episode “Posse Comitatus,” the drama series’ third-season finale. In the episode, Bartlet meets his political rival face-to-face while at a Broadway play, causing intense media speculation.

Initially, Brolin soared to fame as a young doctor on “Marcus Welby, M.D.” and parlayed his heightened profile into feature films, including “Westworld,” “Skyjacked,” “Gable and Lombard,” “Capricorn One,” “The Amityville Horror,” “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” “Blood Money,” and more recently, “Traffic.” Among his many TV films are such credits as “Terminal Virus,” “Gunsmoke: The Long Ride,” “And the Sea Will Tell,” “Children of Fortune” and “To Love, Honor and Obey.” He also starred in the series “Hotel,” “California,” “Angel Falls” and hosted “The World of Discovery.”
