Master P winning over athletes

The standard number if 4 percent.
If you're talented, with a strong upside for high marketability, it may be less. But an agent will cost ypu - though not as much if you're represented by Master P.
So says Cavaliers guard Derek Anderson, who has been with entertainment mogul "P" since the summer
"He's my marketing manager," Anderson said of the man who, as Percy Miller, spent NBA training camp with the Charlotte Hornets as a guard before being cut.
"He's somebody that brings a lot of things to the table for me," Anderson said. He's a guy that an awful lot of guys are going to attach themselves to in the very near future, because he knows what he's doing."
One of those guys is Ricky Williams, the Heisman Trophy running back from Texas, who will be in Philadelphia today to receive a Maxell Club award and might end up being the Eagles' draft slection at number-two overall.
Anderson said Williams' decision to pick "P" would work in his favor in the long haul.
"Most of all," Anderson said, "he knows what to do for us on a huge contract with whatever team we're playing for, then snatching his percentage. He's all about the future, making you think about life after playing ball is over.
"He attempts to prepare you to deal with life. He doesn't ask you to trust him to do it for you."
Anderson said he had yet to work out the financial details of his arrangement with Miller. He said Miller had asked for publicity, not a percentage.
Anderson, 24, starred Kentucky from 1995-97, where he helped the Wildcats to a national title in 1996, before losing in the championship game to Arizona in 1997. Had it not been for a near-career-ending knee injury, he may have been a lottery pick.
He was picked No. 13 overall, instead, in the 1997 NBA draft, which gives some indication of how many agents were coveting his services.
Coming out of college, he went with an up-and-coming agency called WorldWode, "because I juste wanted do do somehting new and innovative." By last summer, he had changed his mind.
Anderson said he was approached by Master P.
"Like anybody would, I had him checked out," Anderson explained. "I had lawyers check his credentials: what he did, what he owned, his 'No Limit' clothing lune business . . . everything. It all checked out."
Anderson had to confirm how Miller made over $56 million last year. He wanted confirmation about his clothing line, his contacts in the entertainment business, and his business acumen.
Miller passed on all fronts.
"He talked about helping establish my own business in the future, getting into movies and the music industry," Anderson said. "He discuessed business management with me . . . everything."
Anderson said "P' had him in a movie titled "No Tomorrow", "" which is scheduled for release this summer. Anderson will also be in amusic video called "Thug Girl". He credits Miller with it all.
"He's very personable," Anderson said of Miller. "You don't find too many agents you can come talk to any time of the day about anything. A lot of guys have other things to do. But it's good to be bale to talk to the type of person you can relate to. he can relate to me and a lot of other guys.
"Plus, he can do alot of things for us that other agents, who don't relate to us, can't do. So I'm happy. I'm sure Ricky will be, as well."
