Master P impresses Charlotte

Rap artist Percy Miller, known as Master P to his music fans, was cut by Charlotte at the end of training camp. But Miller gained coach Dave Cowens' respect with his hustle and determination.
Miller drew a large crowd to the Hornets' home exhibition game against Atlants. After fans chanted "We Want P!" relentlessly, Cowens finally put him in the game.
"He came up to me and said, 'You don't have to play me. I didn't come here for them,'" Cowens said. "I like him. He's doing this for the true love of the game."
The New Orleans native and Baton Rouge resident also took time to do a few good deeds in the community:
·He contributed $20,000 to a fundraiser for a high school basketball player who is in a coma.
·He visited a children's hospital in charlotte.
·He was with the Hornets when they visited UNC-Charlotte player Charles Hayward, who has leukemia, in the hospital.
"Our other players could learn a lot from him," said a Hornets spokesman.
He did things we'd love to have our players do on a regular basis. And he did them on his own."
Said Miller: "That's how I am. I've tried to give to communities that have supported me on the way up. ...
"I've come a long way, and I figure that if I can give a little back, then that might make a step for somebody else to make our community a better place."
