This album was a pivotal one in the Beach Boys' career. It was the lastalbum to feature David Marks, the first to credit Brian Wilson as a producer, the first on which Brian started using session musicians regularly (although he had used them occasionally earlier on), it marked the return of Al Jardine (though he wouldn't feature on the cover until the next album)...oh, and it just happened to feature some of the greatest songs ever written. While patchy, the highs on this album are so high, it's amazing to think this band had recorded Surfin' only a year before...
