More dates will be added for all tours as they happen.Tickets for some of these shows are available at Ticketmaster
Not really, but then it doesn't claim to be. The harmonies, from the little I've heard, are spot-on, as is the backing (as you'd expect), but the lead vocals aren't quite the same with no Carl or Mike (interestingly almost all the songs they've played in their short preview sets are ones that had Carl leads.)However the intent is supposedly to do the songs differently, and from the little I've heard (one full song plus snatches of two others from a televised performance) they succeed admirably.Click here to read a recent interview with Al Jardine about this project.
So far, the shows have concentrated on mid-late 60's hits, usually songs sung by Carl Wilson (here's a typical set-list as posted by Carnie Wilson herself on the Wilson Phillips message board):
I Can Hear Music (Carnie Wilson lead vocal)
Do It Again (Matt Jardine lead vocal)
Darlin' (Carnie)
Come Go With Me (Al Jardine)
Surfer Girl (Group/Al)
Don't Worry Baby (Wendy Wilson/Matt)
I Get Around (Matt)
Girl Don't Tell Me (Adam Jardine)
In My Room (Group)
Monday Monday ( Al)
God Only Knows (Carnie, Wendy, Matt & Al)
Sloop John B (Al)
Wouldn't It Be Nice (Matt)
Good Vibrations (Matt)
Help Me Rhonda (Al)
Little Saint Nick (Al)
"This was an alternate set list. We had to cut out Little Deuce Coupe, All Summer Long, Dance, Dance Dance, and Do You Want To Dance 'cause the set was to long for the show."
However, these have mostly been 'showcase' gigs in front of non-fans. Al has talked about his show being a 'B-sides' tour and even mentioned 'Be Here In The Morning' as a possible song! Carnie Wilson has said they will also be featuring some Wilson Philips material and new material by Matt and Adam Jardine.

Sadly, almost zero - without the 'Beach Boys' handle, Alan's public profile isn't really high enough to carry off a tour on his own.

Not really. With no instrumental members from the original band, and only one vocal member (Mike Love, although Bruce Johnston deserves to be called a 'Beach Boy')it isn't the Beach Boys any more. However, judging from the CD 'Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and David Marks of THE BEACH BOYS salute NASCAR', you'll get the most 'authentic' Beach Boys sound of the three tours. .

More recently they've started including 'God Only Knows' (with Sloop John B and Wouldn't It Be Nice in a 'Pet Sounds' section) with an introduction from Mike about Carl's death. Bruce takes lead on this track now.
Early reports of these shows suggest that the band is pretty poor live, but more recent reports suggest that they've improved a lot. From the NASCAR CD and footage of the '90's touring band, I'd say go, especially if you've never seen them, but you won't get the greatest show on earth, just a decent oldies show. For a review of one of their recent shows in Australia, click here
