If I Could Fly

Rising majestically from the earth,
High into the sky,
Airplanes give mountains a very wide berth,
As clouds float gracefully by.

The birds sing aloud,
A river rushes by,
It's times like now
That I wish I could fly.

I would soar high above the mountain tops,
I would glide low along the trees,
I would, from my perch watch the snowflakes drop,
And the angry storm-tossed seas.

As I sat, the crickets would sing,
The river would rush,
My cries would ring,
Over the woods and then....hush.
