I know it has been a long long time since I have put out any new news. Well, I really don't have much to say as for as new news goes for DSW. Hurricane Gustav just came a huffin and a puffin through Louisiana and I wanted to wish everyone effected a speedy recovery from all the hell that goes with a hurricane.
I also wanted to let everyone know that I have put some of our matches on YouTube for people to enjoy. If you want to see some great DSW matchs for free, just go to YouTube and type in deepsouthwrestln at the search line. At this time I have about 22 matchs up for your viewing pleasure. I will most likely put more up in the future. If you view them and like them, please tell you friends to check them out as well.
Thanks and have a great day.

I hope you are all doing well and having a great summer time. I know its hot as hell, but I guess we gotta live with it. I am just letting everyone know that we are no longer based out of Baton Rouge, La. I have moved to Monroe La. thus DSW is now based in Monroe. I don't know if we will run any shows or not but the company will remain open just in case something comes up and the commission gets nicer... If anyone knows of any businesses in Monroe that would like to sponser Indy wrestling, let us know. You can find our new address in the Contact section of our website.
Thanks and have a great day.

Hello wrestling fans, I hope you are all finding real wrestling shows to keep your spirits up. I know it has been a long long time since I have put my ramblings down in this forum. So I appoligize. I don't know how many of you know this, but there was a group of brave men that decided to try to get things changed with the commission again. I didn't write anything about it because I wanted to wait for the outcome. Unfortunatly, it turned out like I thought it would. About all that really happened was the commission got even more pissed off than before. Oh sure, they said they were going to try to help the independent wrestling groups here, but in fact they made up even more stupid rules and went back to clarify the ones they already had so that you will really be screwed when you run a show. Hell, they even wanted to include jail time if you broke some of thier rediculas rules. I haven't taken the time to check it out, but I think that part is still a grey area.
Oh well, enough about that stuff. I have seen a significant increase in website traffic lately. From what I have found out there is another group that calles themselves Deep South Wrestling in Georgia. And I guess thats ok, but they ain't us! Heck, they may even be running shows, I don't know. I have no idea what thier web address is so if that is who you are looking for, keep looking.
Now for something really serious. I lost a good friend and you lost a great wrestler not to long ago. Michael Durham ake Johnny Grunge passed away. We at DSW want to extend our deepest symothys to his family. Mike was not only a fantastic worker, but he was one hellova good guy. I hadn't seen him in a while, but I will miss him greatly. Everyone please remember the "Public Enemy" as one of the greatest tag teams ever and remember Mike and Ted as two really good dudes.
I guess I will sign off for now, and maybe it won't be so long before I start my rants again.

Well, since my last writing the La. Boxing and Wrestling Commission has been pulling their usual garbage. I have reported shows that I knew were being done by people who had NO promoters license and they did not even bother to go check them out. And also in this time frame there have been shows that were being done by license promoters that they did not go to. The only reason that pisses me off is because they pick and chose who they will make miserable and who they will leave alone. Some of these shows they did not go to were charity shows, which I don't think they should have gone to anyway, but then they did go to one in Gonzales that someone was putting on and made him pay the commissioner and his expenses. They should have been sued, or at least in my opinion. The funniest one to me though is when they went to a WCCW show one night and gave them a lot of grief and tried to shut the show down, but then did not even show up at the show they did the next night...go figure...you can't, because there is no rime or reason to what they do. Anyway, here are a couple more of the rules from the rule book that you may enjoy..read and then wonder...why the hell do we need them in the first place?
§ 74. Admission of persons under sixteen
No person under the age of sixteen shall be admitted to a contest unless accompanied by parent or guardian.
§ 75. Sham or fake contests or exhibitions
Whoever conducts or is a party to any sham or fake boxing contest or wrestling exhibition shall forfeit his license and shall not thereafter be entitled to receive any license pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.
§ 76. Shamming or faking by contestants
Any contestant who is guilty of a sham or fake boxing contest or wrestling exhibition shall for the first offense be suspended immediately for a period of six months from participation in any contest in this state and for the second offense shall be totally disqualified from further participation in any contest given by any club licensed for that purpose. The referee, after warning three times the contestant he believes to be shamming or faking, shall disqualify the contestant and award the decision to the opposing contestant, and shall, moreover, prefer charges against the disqualified contestant before the commission. In such event, the club shall turn over to the secretary of the commission all Monies payable to the disqualified contestant. If the referee believes both contestants to be shamming he shall, after warning both contestants three times, disqualify them and call the event "no contest", and prefer charges before the commission against both contestants. In such cases the club shall refund to all persons in exchange for their seat coupons sixty percent of the face value of such coupons if the contest declared "no contest" is that scheduled and advertised as the main event and feature attraction, but the tax levied under this chapter shall be paid to the commission as in all other contests or exhibitions, and the balance shall be retained by the club to cover its expenses in promoting the contest or exhibition.

Its been over 6 months now since I have updated my editorial section. I
am sorry for the delay, but it has been a hecktic year so for.
There have been several new promotions and some older ones that are either starting or comeing back to this area. The WCCW is running in Houma La. now, that is a area that we had thought we would be running
in, but it did not turn out that way for whatever reason. And another promotion has started here in town, the PCW. They are a group of untrained wrestlers who think they are now pros and will be trying to do
shows in the Baton Rouge area. I am not wishing doom on them, but they have a long way to go. Then the CCW is also going to start running here. Now they are a group of professionals, I hope they do well.
After being screwed by so many who I thought were my friends I don't have the desire to try and run any shows at this time. I think I will just sit back and watch the others and maybe even enjoy a show or two in
the process. For whatever fans we may have, that does not mean that we will never come back, it just means that we are takeing a rest for the rat race. Let the other promotions fight the La wresling commission and
the others out there that are just waiting to screw them for a while.

Well, its another year. I wonder what this year will bring for professional wrestling in Louisiana? I can't speak for the other promotions in the state, but I sure hope this year is better than last year.
We had thougth that we could build a following in Gonzales at Lamar Dixion Expo. We had some really great shows, but the crowds just never did pick up. In fact they got less and less. The fans that did come to the events were great! They really enjoyed the shows and were really into it. We tried to get sponsors to help us with the cost, but only one business came forth to help us out, that was Melancon Sports on Cornerview in Gonzales, and we can't thank Shane enough for his support. But it was not enough.
I could go on about the lack of support we had for our other show in other towns, but why bother. It is to late now. I hope we can put together some events for 2003, but with no sponsorship, it is not likely to happen. I don't want to start rambling with my thougths, so I will just say THANKS to the fans and others that did support our shows. And I hope to see you again this year. |
