Fight 100+ Level Pokemon

I was reluctant to post this code because of the effect it would have on two player battles, that is it was almost like cheating. If you do decided to use these in battle, the other player should know about it. Okay, here goes. Perform the 99 Items code below, then after encountering 'M, keep surfing around for a while and you will run into Pokemon that are Lv 135 and above! It is possible to capture them. What's so valuable about this trick is that you might just run into Bulbasaurs, Charmaders and Squirtles! However, some copies of the game can do this better than others, and if you use the Pokemon in a battle other than a 2 player battle, it will revert back to a Lv. 100 Pokemon. Still, defeating these high level Pokemon is a quick way to earn up to 3000 Exp. Points!

Get Over 99 of Any Item (Without a Game Shark!)

This code is actually comprised of several different codes sent in by readers. Alone, they're not as exciting, but put them together and you have the code you've been waiting for! And here's how you do it! First, return back to Viridian City and talk to the man who taught you how to catch a Weedle (he is near the Gym where you face Giovanni). Reply "No" to his question, then watch him catch a Weedle. Then, place the item you want 99 of as number six from the top (we recommend Rare Candy or the Master Ball if you still have it). To switch items, press Select while pointing to an item, then move the arrow where you want the item to go and push Select again. Both items will switch places. Now, FLY back to Cinnabar Island and start SURFING along the east coast of Cinnabar like in the Missingno. code below. This time, however, you will face a different messed up Pokémon, with a name comprised of symbols and the letter M (players refer to him as M). Defeat him or run away but do NOT capture it. When it is defeated, you will have over 100 of the sixth item on your list! The number will actually be a symbol followed by a number If you want to repeat this trick, you'll need to talk to the man again. Keep in mind that you may be surfing for a while before you face M. This trick also works when you capture Missingno. However, since this uses parts of the Missingno code, there will be some side effects (look at the Missingno code below). You can also duplicate expensive items and sell them back to earn lots of money! Thanks to all the players who sent in codes!

Missingno. Pokémon #000

Go to Viridian City. Head North, towards the old man that gaurds the exit of the city. Talk to him and tell him "No" when he asks if you are in a hurry. He'll demonstrate his Pokémon catching abilities on a Weedle (Wow, he has 50 Pokéballs) After go fly to Cinnabar Island and surf up and down the edge of Cinnabar Island(half land half water). You'll come to a Level 0 MISSINGNO. (His name is messed up)

Better Chance To Capture Pokémon

There is a code for the USA version (it might work for the Japanese version too) to catch Pokémon easier. When you throw a Poké-ball hold Up and press down the "A" button as it closes on the Pokémon. The Poké-ball will shut tighter and it will be easier to catch the Pokémon. This trick will work best with the Ultra Ball.

Unlimited chances to catch rare Pokémon

Did you ever run into one of those Pokémon that you can only catch once? Here is a good trick to get as many shots as you want to catch those Pokémon! First ,find a rare Pokémon such as a Mewtwo. Then, right before you go into battle with it, save the game at that point. Finally, you can battle the Pokémon without worrying that you didn't catch it. If you screw up and you make it faint, just stop where you are and shut off the game. Then you can turn it back on, select continue and presto! You should be saved right before getting into battle with the Pokémon!

Clone Pokemon

You need a friend for this. Trade the pokemon to be cloned and have you friend get a pokemon they dont care about. Trade them, and make sure the person getting the bad pokemon can see the other's screen. When the reciever of the good pokemon's screen says "waiting", get ready to shut the other one off. When waiting disapears, turn off the Game Boy that's getting the bad pokemon. When the other one says trade completed, turn that one off too. When you turn the games back on, you should both have the pokemon. Warning! This could delete a saved game!

Better Chance Catching Safari Pokémon

When you throw a Safari Ball, the instant you see the ball materialize, start rotating the pad from the left in a counterclockwise motion at a semi-slow speed. I have been able to catch the most difficult Pokemon in the Safari Zone multiple times. It's not 100% effective, but it is in the 80% area, and the ones that escape the ball and run away, I usually catch the next Pokemon right away. I want to be sure this is a legitimate trick, so I call on everyone to try it on your GBs in the Safari Zone.

Easy Ditto Catch

Put Magikarp at top of list and let Ditto transform into a Magikarp. Then switch Pokémon--Ditto is easy to fight and catch!

Phantom PC

That's right, a phantom PC!!! Go to Celadon City, then go south untill you are by the Alley where the Game Corner is. Walk EAST untill you are standing next to a bush. CUT the bush down and go SOUTH to the first building to the WEST....this is the people motel. Enter the motel and walk NORTH untill you hit the shelf, then walk EAST untill you hit the wall. Now walk DOWN 2 spaces, then walk UP 1 space. Now press A and select something to do!!!

Better way of catching Dratinis

To better catch Dratinis, you have to catch at least one. Once you have one, leave the Safari Zone. Come back again (with the Super Rod, mind you) and go to any body of water. The closet one will work. Use the Super Rod, but HOLD "A" when it says USE/TOSS. Then, your chances of catching a Water Pokemon are increased, though you might get, "Not even a nibble!" a few times. I'm not 100% guranteeing that you will get Dratini, but you have high chances. Another way to do it is: Go into the Safari Zone and fish with the Super Rod. If you already have a Dratini, they become more common. Wait a while because it takes a while. Also, if you lose Dratini, it helps to go to another body of water and fish again. This trick does not always work, so be sure to try it more than once.

Saving money in Pokémarts

If you want to buy a large amount of one item buy three. You will discover that buying items in groups of three is free or the store pays for. I got many expensive items like this. Note: This trick only works in certain marts and only on certain items.

Easier way of catching Abra

The first thing Abra does is teleport so it's obviously really hard to weaken it. Use the Warp attack with Ekans. With that, Abra couldn't move and I was able to weaken it enough to catch it. This works with Bellsprout in the blue version. If your Ekans or Bellsprout can't attack before Abra teleports, then your monster needs to gain more levels in order to increase it's speed. Abra is very useful because it can teleport you to the last Pokémon Centre you were at. When it evolves into Kadabra, it is very powerful against a lot of enemies that you meet later in the game.

Even The Odds At Game Corner

In the casino above the guy with the glasses that you usually find in gyms is a slot machine with great odds. The way i got a Porygon was simple but still long. Save the game when you hit the jackpot. After a while the game is fixed and you will either get multiple wins, or hit the jackpot-doing that you eventually start to win several hundred at a time. By hitting the A button rapidly it sets a pattern to make sure you now when the jackpot comes up-the slot machine starts to slow down.

  • If you see a rock or bush in the middle of nowhere, search it. There is usually an item there.
  • Check the walls at dead ends, and there is usually an item there.
  • Don't be too hasty to evolve your Pokémon. Your Pokémon learn attacks faster unevolved than evolved.
  • Don't be too hasty to evolve Pokémon by using stones. Most of the Pokémon evolved by stones don't learn any new moves (except Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Cloyster, Exeggutor, and the 3 Evee evolutions)
  • On that subject, evolve your Eevee as soon as you get it. It gets stronger & will learn as many moves as it does unevolved.
  • Location of the 5 Moon Stones (though you only need 4):
    1. Upper left corner of 1st floor in Mt. Moon
    2. In a wall at Mt. Moon. It is before you get the fossils & at the right, at a dead end.
    3. Second basement of Celadon City Game Corner
    4. Route 2, on the right half.
    5. Cinnabar Island Mansion. Search all the pillars on the right side when you enter.
  • When you trade Pokémon with other trainers within the game, the level Pokémon you get is equivelant to the level of the Pokémon you traded. BTW, you can't change the name of the Pokémon you receive.
  • Pokémon you can trade for:

Pokémon you get Pokémon you trade Name of Pokémon you get
    Nidoran F Nidoran M Spot
    Nidorina Nidorino Terry
    Electrode Raichu Doris
    Seel Ponyta Sailor
    Tangela Venonat Crinkles
    Jynx Poliwhirl Lola
    Mr. Mime Abra Marcel
    Farfetch'd Spearow Dux
    Lickitung Slowbro Marc

  • Check your PC when you start the game, and you will have a Potion.
  • You can fish ANYWHERE that has water (including Misty's Gym, the lake at Celadon City, and behind the Safari Zone warden's house), except for Agatha's room at the Indigo Plateau.
  • You only have one chance to catch an Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo, and two chances to catch a Snorlax. Increase your chances by putting them to sleep or freezing them, and make sure you have a lot of Ultra Balls with you, or use your Master Ball to capture Mewtwo (or whatever you choose) at the start of the battle.
  • Not really a tip, more like something weird, but there is an "invisible PC" in the Celadon City Hotel. Its at the right side, just check where a PC would normally be (stand in the same direction), and you will access a PC.
  • You can use the CUT ability to cut grass as well as trees, if you want to avoid fights.
  • To increase your chances of catching Pokémon with a Pokéball or Great Ball, hold Up & B at the same time, when the ball hits the Pokémon.
  • Where's that Pokémon?!?! Presenting a table for those "rare" Pokémon.

Pokémon Where you can find it Special notes
    Farfetch'd Viridian City Trade Spearow
    Jynx Celadon City Trade Poliwhirl
Mr. Mime Route 2 (right half) Trade Abra
Lickitung Route 18 (2nd floor of building) Trade Slowbro
Chansey Safari Zone Area 3, or Unknown Dungeon ---
Kangaskhan Safari Zone area 2 Hard to find, but keep walking
Scyther Safari Zone area 1 ONLY IN RED VERSION
Pinsir Safari Zone Area 1 ONLY IN BLUE
Tauros Safari Zone Area 3 ---
Electabuzz Power Plant ONLY IN RED VERSION
Magmar Cinnabar Island Mansion ONLY IN BLUE
Porygon Celadon Trading Center 6500 coins or 9999 coins.
Dratini Safari Zone water or Celadon Trading Center Fish in Safari Zone w/Super Rod, or 4600 coins or 2800 coins.

  • Having a hard time catching some Safari Zone Pokémon? To catch those Pokémon, first enter the Safari Zone and walk around until your time expires. Now walk all the way to the Sea Route, and Surf until you get to the coastline of the cave, but DO NOT go on the land. Stay on the coastline and keep on surfing, until you get into a fight. You will fight a Safari Zone Pokémon.
  • Want a Metapod or Kakuna that fights? Just catch a Caterpie and/or Weedle and evolve it into Level 7. They will become Metapod/Kakuna, and have Tackle (Caterpie)/Poison Sting (Weedle) and String Shot, instead of Harden.
  • You can only have 1 status change affecting a Pokémon. For example, you can be burned, but not be burned and put to sleep, paralyzed, frozen, or poisoned. You can still be confused however.
  • How to get Missingno:
    1. Make sure you have a Pokémon that can SURF, one that can FLY, and one whose attacks don't do a lot of damage.
    2. Get either a Ponyta, Raichu, or Venonat to trade with someone at the Cinnabar Island Lab.
    3. FLY to Cinnabar Island, and go to the Laboratory. Trade whatever Pokémon you have to the person who wants it.
    4. Exit the lab, go to the right coast of Cinnabar Island and SURF on the coastline. What this means is when you SURF, you should be half on hand and half on water.
    5. When you get in a battle, the screen will be black for a few seconds, and a "glitch" will appear. This is Missingno.. It has Defense as weak as Chansey, so use your weakest attacks on it. If you beat it, you will earn a lot of Experience Points. If you decide to catch it, be careful. Your game may be screwed up. If you use Missingno. in any battle, the opposing Pokémon will look screwed up.

I have caught Missingno. myself, and saved the game after catching it. Nothing really major has happened yet, but that doesn't mean something will happen. Catch Missingno. at your own risk!

  • Catch a L. 160+ Pokémon in the wild. While doing the Missingno. cheat, I ran across what I call a "really cool glitch." Follow these steps to catch a high level Pokémon:
    1. Go to Viridian City and talk to the Old Man who blocked you off earlier in the game. Talk to him and when he asks if you are in a hurry, say "No." 2. Take a Pokémon with the FLY ability and SURF ability, and FLY to Cinnabar Island.
    3. Go to the right coast of the island, and SURF up and down the coastline. Coastline being the part that looks like half land and half water. (It looks like you are surfing on the edge).
    4. You may encounter a battle with weaker and insignificant Pokémon (Pidgey, Rattata, etc.), but eventually, you will encounter a high level Pokémon.
    5. Beware, because you may encounter a "glitch" Pokémon called *M'*, where * is an arbitrary glitchy character. DO NOT TRY TO CATCH IT. You may catch it, and it will be in Bill's PC, but if you try to withdraw it, your game will freeze. Plus, after you "catch it", it will not take you to the main map screen. You will still be battling it.
    - I've been told that it doesn't screw up your game. My suggestion is that you do what you feel like. Its your game, its your choice.

Here is a list of some Pokémon I have encountered, that are Level 176 or higher: Nidorina, Nidorino, Charmeleon, Wartortle.
    - Jeffrey Meadows reports that he saw L. 132 Starmie, Magikarp, and Marowak. He also reports to see L. 146 Wigglytuff and L. 132 Snorlax. (Thanx, Jeffrey)
    - Brian McAughey tells me that some students at his school have claimed to see L. 150+ Rapidash, Electrode, and Magnemite.

  • Another thing to go along with the L. 160+ glitch: if you aren't careful when leveling up your Pokémon, the level may go down to 100, and it can't level up after that. If you are lucky enough to Level 255, stop there. If it gains another level, it will go back to Level 0. And be careful when fighting in battles with these Pokémon. They may gain a Level even though their stats say they don't gain a level until they learn 100000+ Experience Points.

2 poke'mon glitches Sent By Kevin
Here's 2 poke'mon glitches. They are unusual. 1...To do this just have a poke'mon that knows subsitute.{Get it from game corner.} Now use the missing.no code before or after finding missing.no you may encounter an electrode.{Range between lv 80-l00+ use subsitute first before anthing else and on you next turns do anything but attack, run or change poke'mon. {In other words don't hurt electrode.} It will eventlly decide to selfdestruct or use explossion. It will blow up and probbally break your subisitute. The electrode will come back to life but be invisible.{like the phantom PC code}It is really cool when it uses light screen when invissible. This code is simpler than it seems. 2...Easyier, did you know you can fish inside a statue? This will not work in every statue but it works in the 2 statues the gym in the city where the gym leader is misty-where you get your 2't badge.

3 Cool Cheats Sent By Paul
The first one is about a Onix Poke'God (Its his next stage) (I do not know the name of this Poke'mon) ( You must have a Blue versain or Red versain) now what you do is catch a Onix at level 10 or up and feed him rare candys untill he is a level 40 then find someone who will trade a Poke'mon at level 23 or up for your Onix. This person must have a link cable then hook it up to your Gameboy and trade 60 times and on the 60th time the you get your Onix back he will become that secret Poke'God! Now a even better trick: How to get Pikablu! You must have a Blue versain to do this what you do is catch a Pikachu at level 20 then trade it 10 times then use a water stone on it then Pikablu! Now how to get Tons of secret Poke'mon Easy! Just defeat the Elite for 24 or more times then Prof. Oak will say I'm getting tired of this he takes you into the hall of fame then there will be a door go into it and you will be in Air City where People just give you Poke'Gods!
