Pikachu is making his solo game debut away from in Pikachu Genki Dechu (which literally translated means "Pikachu is feeling fine") Like Star Fox and Pokémon Stadium, the cartridge will ship with an added hardware bonus that is vital to the underlying concept of the title: A voice recognition system.
Taking the Pokémon Pikachu pedometer to the next step, Pikachu Genki Dechu is another virtual pet-like experience. You control Pikachu with a Nintendo 64 microphone, vocally giving him simple instructions and telling him where to go in the microcosm he inhabits. In addition to playing with a variety of items, Pikachu can interact with several other Pokémon that inhabit the area and befriend him.
The accessory that comes with Pikachu Genki Dechu is a set that makes up the voice recognition system. This accessory consists of an ear phone with an attached microphone that connects to a voice recognition device. This is the thing that plugs into one of the N64's controller slots. Once you start up your N64 with the Pikachu cart, you will see a beautiful and colorful polygonal forest accompanied by the usual happy music.
Using the little joystick on your N64 controller, you'll eventually find Pikachu sleeping on a trunk. Now, all you have to do is use the microphone and call out Pikachu's name. He'll suddenly wake up and be surprised to find you. Since Pikachu is a shy, wild creature, you'll have to work pretty hard to gain Pikachu's trust. Of course, the graphics in this game are beautiful. Pikachu and his surroundings would be fully polygonal. Take good care of Pikachu and he'll probably give you some rewards. He'll display all kinds of moods including anger and happiness. If you leave him alone, he'll probably go wander off and explore the forest.
The new voice recognition system is pretty cool and can do quite a bit of stuff. If you were to tease Pikachu, he'll probably get mad at you and you'll have to gain his trust again. If you were to say something nice about Pikachu, he'd probably play with you or do some tricks. In the game, there would be, of course, some mini games and puzzle for you and Pikachu to do. Like a virtual pet, you'll have to keep Pikachu happy and entertained by feeding him, or playing with him.
