Many thanks to my cousin, Harold Jacobs, for the much of the information. And kudos to all the Ory cousins I have met on the internet who have added and updated the family, especially Horace Ory, who has done extensive research on the early family in France and PA.
Other information came from "Lions on the River: A Potpourri" by Elida Millet Caillouet, published in 1989. Hopefully the errors from the publication, "Baker: The First 200 Year, 1776-1976" published by the city of Baker, LA, in 1976, has been corrected by the discovery of the Nicolas Orry will.

Nicolas Ory, age 26, landed in Philadelphia aboard the "Princess Augusta" on 16 Sep 1736. He lived in York Co, PA until 1750, when he moved to Frederic Co, Maryland. He arrived in TX, aboard "La Brittania" in 1769. German Coast Families by Albert J. Robichaux, Hebert Pub., 1997 p. 280.
Glenn P. Ory considers that Anna Strasbach may have died and Nicolas may have married Christine Michel before 1757, when Marie Barbe Ory was born. He may be right, but Nicholas Ory's will attributes Marie Barbe to Anna Strasbach. Kevin D. Ory believes that the birth of Marie Barbara ORY was the subsequent cause of death for Anna Strassbach. "I may be dead wrong, but I also believe that Nicolas married Christine very quickly and for a reason. I also lean to the theory that the orphan child Valentin was a child/brother of Christine before she married Nicolas and she may have just finished her nursing experience in time to help Nicolas out."

The Ory family lost one of its finest when Kevin Ory passed away. He was one of the driving forces behind much of the Ory research. Kevin was a cousin, a talented musician, a dedicated family man, and a good friend. He is missed!
