Here's some poetry I've found ova da years dat I think is really kewl. Of course, most of them are 'bout love, but dat does not mean to say these poems aren't any good.

LOVE
Anonymous

I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.
I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.

I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.

I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good,
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.

You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself,
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means
After all.

APRIL LOVE
Ernest Dowson

We have walked in Love's land a little way,
We have learnt his lesson a little while,
And shall we not part at the end of day,
With a sigh, a smile?

A little while in the shine of the sun,
We were twined together, joined lips, forgot
How the shadows fall when the day is done,
And when Love is not.

We have made no vows--there will none be broke,
Our love was free as the wind on the hill,
There was no word said we need wish unspoke,
We have wrought no ill.

So shall we not part at the end of the day,
Who have loved and lingered a little while,
Join lips for the last time, go our way,
With a sigh, a smile?

BECAUSE
Edward Teschemacher

Because you come to me with naught save love,
And hold my hand and lift mine eyes above,
A wider world of hope and joy I see,
Because you come to me.

Because you speak to me in accents sweet,
I find the roses waking round my feet,
And I am led through tears of joy to see,
Because you speak to me.

Because God made thee mine I'll cherish thee
Through light and darkness, throughout all time to be,
And pray His love may make our lives divine,
Because God made thee mine.

UNTITLED
Crystal Pownall

Love in the beginning
is a garden path for two
where tender dreams
first come alive
and promise to come true

It's a garden path
that's sunlit
and moonlit...and so rare
With all the joy
two hearts could hold
Forever blooming there.

And yet that
sweet beginning
can't compare
with what's to be,
The happiness
that comes with time
And love's maturity.

For the path is ever widening
and more beautiful, it seems
As hills and valleys,
sun and rain
Bring deeper, truer dreams.

How wonderful it is to know
that moments sweet as these
are but stepping stones to
greater joys
And sweeter memories.

FOR THIS IS WISDOM
Laurence Hope

For this is wisdom; to love, to live,
To take what Fate, or the Gods, may give,
To ask no question, to make no prayer,
To kiss the lips and caress the hair,
Speed passion's ebb as you greet its flow,
--to have,--to hold,--and,--in time,--let go!
