A Tragedy of Historic Proportions!

BANGLADESHI CHILDREN
NEED OUR HELP TO SURVIVE!!

Our Society is dedicated to the distribution without cost of highly effective home water purifiers to families in Bangladesh exposed to contaminated drinking water from wells and surface sources.

The prevalence of polluted drinking water is most severe in developing nations throughout the world and more particularly in Bangladesh.

Death and disease from impure drinking water is a major obstacle to the continued economic and human development of children and adults alike. This situation has been depicted as one of the worst catastrophies in human history.

The Canada Water Purifier developed by Dr. David Manz at the University of Calgary is a timely solution to this emergency.
Tests have been conducted in as many as 30 countries, proving that the Canada Water Purifier is highly effective in removing pollutants and contaminants from unsafe drinking waters, including arsenic, bacteria and viruses which are often highly prevalent in South East Asian countries such as Bangladesh.

A MESSAGE OF DESPAIR? . . OR
AN INVITATION TO SAVE LIVES?

About mid-July '98 the mighty Ganges, the Bramhaputra, the Meghna and their myriad tributaries flowed down the slopes of the Himalayas to the flood plains of Bangladesh. Huge surges of water overflowed river banks and inundated two-thirds of the country.

With incessant monsoon rain, water levels soon rose above the danger level of 12 feet. This catastrophic flood surpassed all previous flood records in Bangladesh. For 70 days, 21 million people remained marooned or homeless.

Ali and his mother left to look for shelter on higher ground more than five miles away. His little sister stayed behind to release the cows. She tried to ride out one of the cows. Ali never saw her again.

In the overcrowded embankments under open skies many people are saved from drowning but Cholera, Diarrhea and skin infections from polluted waters are rampant.

Drinking water is in short supply and people are forced to use water which they know will kill them.

The most vulnerable are the little ones. Looking at the distance, Ali wonders about his sister, tears roll down his cheek, it has been more than a month. To him, as for many in Bangladesh, "water" means both "life and death".

After 70 days the waters finally start to recede but all sources of drinking water are contaminated. People continue to die from diseases due to unsafe water.
