Building the Stems
The first step in construction of the boat is to build the bow and stern stems if the vessel is to be a pirogue, or just the bow stem if it is to be a Cajun Skiff. A piece of Cypress is generally used for this, but any good, light, weatherproof wood can be used. This is probably the most difficult part of the boat for people to visualize and build.A full sized pattern of this piece is included with the plans for this vessel.
