~ Crawfish Bread ~
1 package frozen bread dough
1 onion chopped fine
3 Tbsps. butter
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 pound crawfish tail meat
3/4 cup chopped green onion
3/4 cup grated monterey jack cheese
1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
In a small pan place 3 Tbsps. of butter and chopped onion,
cook till onion becomes translucent. Add garlic powder and
stir for about 30 seconds. Place Crawfish Tails in a bowl,
Add cooked onions and both cheeses to Crawfish Tails and Mix.
Follow directions on bread dough package, for rising of bread,
then Punch the dough down. Place on a floured surface and roll
into a 10" X 14" rectangle. Place the Crawfish, cheese, onion,
and garlic powder mixture--lengthwise over the center third of
the dough. Pull up the sides of the dough and pinch closed -then-
turn loaf over, so that the seam is on the bottom; OR you can make
cuts frm the filling to the dough edges, at one-inch intervals -
along the sides of the filling, Fold strips at an angle, across
the filling for a braided effect.
Place on a greased baking sheet; cover and let rise in a warm, draft
free spot... until doubled in size, 30-45 minutes.... then bake
according to package instructions.
Yield: One loaf of Crawfish Bread!
