TERMS OF REFERENCES FOR YOUNG GEOLOGISTS WORKING GROUP
The Young Geologists Working Group
was formed during the first meeting of the Council of Geological Society of
Malaysia for 2000/2001 on 16th May 2000. This group is responsible to the Society for
the promulgation of activities of a technical and social nature for the young
members, defined as any members of the Society who are at or below the age of
35 including student members.
The Aims:

To organize
forums, technical meetings, continuos technical or
management training and other events for the benefit of members to increase
their professional capabilities.
·
To organize
social functions for members with a view to increase their awareness of the
geology profession and the society.
·
To encourage
graduates and students in geology and related disciplines to join the society
and participate in society affairs.

The chairman of the Working Group shall be elect by
the Council of the Society while the other sub-committee members shall be elect
during the Forum on Young Geologists to be held annually toward the end of the
year.
The Activities:

To promote the
image of geologists through further interaction with local and overseas
professional groups and further collaboration with other working groups.
·
To assist
graduates to achieve theirs training objectives and professional development.
·
To provide
students with information on theirs career prospects through organization of
informal gathering and assisting in career searching information.
·
To organize
technical talks such as Malam Geologis
Muda series, seminars, short courses and visits for
personal development and equipping members with necessary skills as a
professional.
·
To systematically
promote new members and participation in the society activities.
