The New Kid


At one time or another, everyone is The New Kid, which gives the video universal appeal to both parents and children. The video shows that everyone is afraid of the unknown, but with a little friendly help, nothing is impossible. The music soars and the comedy is uproarious as the after school performances take center stage. Sing and dance along with Norma Jean, the new kid in school, who shows that everybody's special.

The Club House


The boys are in for a big surprise when they challenge the girls to a clubhouse-building competition and get more than they bargained for. Playful musical numbers create an entertaining story line which punctuates the important lesson that working together is more important than winning or losing.

The Screen Test

BMG Debuts First Cabbage Patch Sing-Along This Fall

BMG Video this fall will debut the first sing-along video featuring the Cabbage Patch Kids. The release marks the 15th anniversary of the shopping craze ignited by the chubby-cheeked dolls' debut. The Cabbage Patch Kids Sing Along streets Sept. 29 at $12.98 and will feature songs from the entire series. The "Cabbage Patch Kids" video series includes the titles The Club House and The Nezo Kid, which debuted in 1996; the 1997 video The Screen Test; and a new video, Saturday Night, which streets in the spring. "The Cabbage Patch Kids are alive and well," says Stephanie Kovner, senior director of marketing for BMG. "A lot of people still have very good feelings about the brand. Although Kovner declined to comment on how many of the previous releases were sold, she says BMG was "very happy with the results and definitely considers them successful. "Music is so appealing to kids and the music is one of the most popular parts of the videos," she says. "We think consumers will really like it." The tape will be tagged on Mattel's fall television advertising spots beginning in October. An offer on the back of more than 325,000 Cabbage Patch "Fun to Feed Baby" boxes will alert consumers to a $3 rebate on the purchase of the doll and one of the tapes. The promotion begins in September and runs for one year. A Mattel campaign is also increasing consumer awareness of the brand: the manufacturer is celebrating the toys' anniversary with a special-edition Cabbage Patch doll and a "Memorable Moments" story contest. Consumers can submit their favorite Cabbage Patch Kids memory for a chance to win a $15,000 savings bond and 15 Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. The company has received more than 800 responses so far, Kovner says. Additionally, HBO and Showtime are currently broadcasting a "Cabbage Patch Film Festival," featuring the first three "Cabbage Patch Kids" video releases.

In the spirit of all these video releases, one summer afternoon I was EXTREMELY bored and decided to play with some pictures. Here is one of the experiments with video I tried.
