Coach Mark Suire is a native of Abbeville who graduated from AHS in 1987. After graduation, he attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA on a baseball scholarship. After a redshirt season, he transferred to Mississippi Delta Jr. College (Moorhead, MS), where he was a member of the baseball squad that won the conference title. Upon graduation from MDJC, Coach Suire enrolled at Louisiana College in Pineville. There, he finished out his four years of college baseball before finally earning his bachelor's degree at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now UL-Lafayette) in 1992.
Upon graduation from USL, Coach Suire joined the faculty of Catholic High School in New Iberia, LA. There he taught social studies and served as assistant coach in baseball, basketball, and football. In 1993, he moved to Eunice, LA and was named head basketball coach at St. Edmund High School. His overall record there was 38-18 as his teams won district championships in both 1993-94 and 1994-95. He was twice named the district 5-A coach of the year in basketball. While at St. Edmund, Suire also served as assistant baseball and assistant football coach and taught Civics, American History, Sociology, and Physical Education.
Coach Suire's success at St. Edmund helped him to earn a position at his alma mater in the fall of 1995. Since joining the staff at Abbeville High School, he has served as a teacher in Geography, Physical Education, and also in the ACCESS program. In addition to softball, Suire's coaching duties over the past five years have included: assistant baseball coach, assistant football coach, assistant basketball coach, and interim head basketball coach.
Suire and his wife, Debra, currently reside in Kaplan, LA with three children: Kasaundra (10), Kerri (8), and Sabrina (7).
