The city of Barcelona in Cataluna, Spain, is considering tearing down an old and damaged bullfighting arena and replacing it with a shopping center. However, bullfighting fans are petitioning to keep the arena open. Please write to officials and encourage them to get rid of this bullring. Explain that many Americans will not visit Spain because of cruel bullfights and that to tear down this arena would send a positive message of compassion and progress. A recent study shows that many bulls are debilitated with drugs before going into the arena. This hidden abuse is followed in the arena by multiple stabbings and piercings with lances and daggers until life and blood literally drain away. Because of its inherent cruelty, more than a million Spanish citizens have signed a petition to ban bullfighting forever. Please include your name and nationality in your letter.
