Chapter 35

The next night Justin and Maggie went to the movies with everyone, including the girls Joey and Chris finally met at the club. Joey's date's name was Jess and Chris' was Kristy. They fit in with everyone perfectly and were like part of the group in no time.

"You know, Justy, my parents leave tomorrow morning for Wisconsin," Maggie said on the way home. "I know, I remember," he replied keeping his eyes on the road. "Do you still want to come over for dinner?" she asked quietly. "Sure, you sure it will actually be dinner and it will be made by you?" he asked turning to her and raising an eyebrow at her. She blushed and nodded. "Of course," she smiled. "Okay, I'll come, eight o'clock okay?" he asked. "Sure," she replied leaning her head on his shoulder.

"Have you ever cooked anything in your life before?" Nikki asked Maggie, trying not to laugh. Maggie had an apron on, and she was standing in front of the stove with a box of spaghetti and a jar of sauce. She shook her head as she looked at the directions. "Here, let me help," Nikki replied reaching for the box. Maggie snatched it away. "No, I promised Justin I'd cook him dinner," she replied with a determined look on her face. Nikki shook her head and laughed at her again.

"So are you nervous about tonight?" Nikki asked Maggie later. "Kinda," she replied, putting the finishing touches on dessert. "Anything really special planned?" Nikki asked. Maggie turned around and shot her a dirty look. "I know what you're trying to get at, Nik," she replied. "So? What's gonna happen?" she asked. Maggie sighed and hopped up onto the counter. "I have no idea," she shrugged. "We've come so close so many times that I'm wondering how many times we're gonna get interrupted or one of us isn't going to feel right and stop," she replied. "But I want it to be special, and Justin respects that. So if it feels right to both of us tonight, then who knows," she finished. Nikki nodded at her friend. "I'm so happy you're so happy, Mags," she said hugging her.

Maggie sat in the living room, her nerves all jumbled. She'd never been so nervous about a date with Justin before, not even their first date. She played with her hands for a few minutes then she got up and checked her hair and makeup in the mirror again. Then she ran to the kitchen to check dinner, but it was all finished, sitting on the stove keeping warm. She took a deep breath and went back to the living room. On the way there the doorbell rang. She turned the knob slowly to reveal a smiling Justin behind it.

The second she saw him all her nerves were calmed. Just looking at him comforted her so much that she knew she'd be fine tonight. "Good evening," he said softly as he picked up her hand and kissed the back of it, which made her blush. "Hello," she said back quietly. "Here, this is for you," he said pulling a red rose from behind his back. "It's beautiful, thank you," she said smelling it and opening the door for him to come in. "You look beautiful tonight too," he whispered. She was wearing a short black dress with silver sparkles along the bottom hem and her long curly hair was falling down her back in big curls. "You look nice too," she said shyly. He was wearing black leather pants and a black sweater with a white strip across the chest. "I can't believe how shy we're being," he laughed. "Me neither," she laughed back looking up at him. "Well dinner's ready, let's go," she said pulling him to the dining room.

They walked into the dining room and it was softly lit by two tall candles on the table. "Here have a seat, I'll bring out dinner," she replied pulling out a chair. She came back with all of dinner and Justin was impressed. She had made spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, and chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert. "Wow Maggie, you made all this?" he asked surprised. She nodded proudly. "Yep, Nikki tried to help but I wouldn't let her," she replied. "Good girl," he replied taking a bite.

Justin and Maggie talked for what seemed like hours during dinner. They talked about school, family, friends, and everything else. They felt like they knew each other so much better. "Let's dance, Justy," Maggie replied taking his hand she was holding and kissing it. "Okay," he replied, noticing there wasn't any music. Maggie walked over to a small cd player and turned it on, then walked back to Justin.

"See Justin, I wanted to sing this song to you, but seeing as I have no talent, I thought I would just play it and we could dance to it. I want you to know this is how I feel about you forever, and I don't want you ever to forget it. No matter how far apart we are or how hopeless it seems sometimes, just promise me you won't forget this," she asked. He nodded slowly. "I won't forget," he whispered. She nodded and walked back to the cd player.

The song started to play and Justin took Maggie in his arms and held her tighter than ever before. It was like he was holding onto her for dear life, like someone would take her away from him if he didn't. Maggie snuggled against his chest and breathed in his cologne and his whole smell. His ever-familiar smell that would be gone soon. A few small tears came to her eyes, but she was determined not to let them fall.

Justin sang the words to the song so softly that Maggie barely heard him, but she knew that he was taking the words to heart.

Oceans apart, day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain
If I see you next to never,
then how can we say forever?

Wherever you go, whatever you do,
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I took for granted all the times
that I thought would last somehow
I hear the laugher, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now
Oh can't you see it baby,
You've got me going crazy

Wherever you go, whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I wonder how we can survive this romance
But in the end if I'm with you,
I'll take the chance

Oh can't you see it baby,
You've got me going crazy

Wherever you go, whatever you do,
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

Waiting for you
