Now, I have written countless words on the subject of C-17 and C-68 in the past few years and truly, honestly...... many non-gun owners just don't get the picture. For example, I recently spoke with George Wortner of Wortners Gun works in Chatham. Oh, how we talked of the good old days.... but here's the bottom line. George named over a dozen gun dealers that used to have flourishing businesses in Chatham-Kent. They dealt guns, components, ammo, clothing etc. Now 15 years later, they are moslty all gone.... all but George. "Even though I am practically the only one left of the bunch, I barely sell 1 gun where I used to sell 10 when we were all in the business" said Wortner.
Think about it people. A dozen thriving businesses shut down due to a couple of Federal Laws and for what? The Feds say "firearms crime is still too high, need more rules". Need another example? Just as the present Liberal government was announcing C-68, I called my favourite International Firearms Dealer in Montreal to order a couple new guns. I was immediately transferred to a US based company that was taking orders for what once was a multi million dollar international Canadian based company. Yup! GONE! When I asked why to the manager of Century Arms in the USA, he simply stated, "Gun laws are getting too tough in Canada, International pulled out".
If you're an anti gun person, you might say "GOOD! SO WHAT?". Well I say "HATS OFF TO THE DECLINING CANADIAN ECONOMY, no prob, bury the Loonie as deep as you can, lets all thread Canadianism with a bleeding heart Liberal tap and screw it deep into oblivion and we can start singing the Star Spangled Banner tomorrow!" Not me folks.... never.
Despite all that of the past decade, the Feds say.... still too much crime, gotta register firearms ya know, that'll stop it! Uhuh, sure. People, I would gladly register my weapons if I thought that by doing so my Remington 30.06 would no longer be used in a holdup. OK? WAKE UUUUUPPPPP!!! My GUNS DON'T DO CRIMES!!!!! Need more? How about this.....
The Feds have spent over 130 million of YOUR tax dollars on this "CRIME FIGHTING we better register his guns" thing. Some projections say it may hit 200 million before its done. Mr ANTI GUN person, please sleep on this last thought and ponder the complexities of what may just be a "Great Canadian Injustice".
Could not the 130 million be better spent by something as simple as using the money to put say, 2500 highly trained, elite specialized federal agents in the field to organize with local law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal flow of "truly" illegal weapons crossing our borders? Maybe focus on the drug trade, where firearms are so common and commonly used illegally? (2500 cops = same cost as registration) Huh? Do you see why Canadian firearms owners HATE C-68 so much? I am not the bad guy, don't say I am and quit wasting my money!!!! Focus people.... focus.
