Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (S.S.E.H.V)
SSEHV is an extension of the EHV Programme, aimed at propogation of the
Noble Human Values,
without the religious connotations being stressed upon. The Values are built into the secular system of
education itself, without losing any of their magnitude --- at the same time, highly enhancing
the import and benefits of the curricular education itself.
For example, in Mathematics, a sum can be put to the child as follows :
A farmer had 6 cows, 2 of them got stolen. How many are left with him?
This example might suggest to a child that stealing is an acceptable trait.
SSEHV way of posing the same problem would be:
A farmer had 6 cows. He gave away 2 of them to his friend who could not afford to buy them for himself.
How many are left with him now?
This introduces the values of compassion and sharing in a subtle way.
Such novel ways of introducing values into the curriculum forms the basis of SSEHV.
