Demona stood on the castle wall facing
her ex-lover and his clan, holding the parchment before her, she finished
the spell. Smiling evily at Goliath she folded it up and slid it
into her pouch. "You have your allies Goliath, now it's my turn."
A flash rippled through the air....
------------------------------------
Lance dived at Hagar, trying to make
her cut off the spell she was focusing on Keith. He just got his
arms around her when a bright light engulfed them, momentarily blinding
him. "Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"
------------------------------------
A sharp elbow connected with his abdomen,
causing Lance to double over in pain as he blinked his eyes in an attempt
to rid himself of the black dots dancing there.
Looking up he saw Hagar standing by
a female Robeast of unusually small size.
"Demona, what is the meaning of this?"
Hagar asked the red-haired monster.
"You gave me your word that you would
help me. I'm claiming the offer."
Hagar sneered, "Fool! You brought
the Red Lion's pilot with me!"
"No matter he is a meer human.
Now come, we must leave to plan..." The monster waved her hand.
Lance's eyes narrowed, "Oh no you
don't!" He took off but when he reached for Hagar his hands encountered
nothing but smoke and his momentum carried he over the wall. Twisting
in mid-air he grabbed onto the rough ledge. Straining his muscles
he tried to pull himself up but couldn't quite make it. A hand reached down and grasped his wrist, helping him back up.
He stood face to face with a creature
like the female who had disappeared with Hagar. "What kind of ugly
Robeast are you?"
The big Lavender creature's eyes glowed
red.
Sensing trouble he pressed his communicator.
"Keith? I think I have trouble here, trick of Lotor's I think."
He waited, never taking his eyes from those before him. "Keith?"
Again he paused, a thrill of worry stirring in his gut. "Allura?
Pidge? Hunk? Coran? Guys, look, if this is supposed to
be funny, I'm failing to see how." All he got was static, angrily
he ripped his red helmet from his head and tossed it against the wall.
"What on Arus is going on?"
"If you'd calm down, maybe we could
find out."
Lance looked up. It was the red creature
that had spoken. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "This
isn't Planet Arus, you aren't Robeasts, and the rest of Voltron Force isn't
here and I'm alone without even my Red Lion, right?"
"Well for starters, this is Earth.
And we're Gargoyles. I'm Brooklyn."
Lance's heart stopped, "Earth?"
"Yep." Said a small, green... Gargoyle.
Looking around he shook his head,
"What year is it?"
The same Gargoyle spoke again.
"1999."
Lance was having a hard time breathing,
"What?! But that's impossible, unless... magic?"
Brooklyn nodded, "Demona used a spell
to bring you and..."
"Hagar. Lotor's witch."
Lance couldn't keep the disgust out of his voice and he clenched his fists
until his knuckles turned white, then almost immediately he felt tired.
He lifted a hand to his head. "What about the others... If they're
still..." He suddenly felt his knees weaken and he sat heavily on
the floor.
Brooklyn kneeled next to him.
"Are you alright?"
"Yah, I think that the trip and the
fight against the Drules is just catching up with me." Lance grinned
crookedly. "Then again maybe it was just seeing that ugly, old witch
up close."
---------------------------------
Brooklyn watched as the dark haired
human laughed. "Maybe Lexington should check you over and make sure
you're okay."
Like a switch, he became immediately
serious, "I don't need no doctor." He was on his feet the next second
glaring defiantly at Brooklyn. Brooklyn raised his hands to let the
human know he meant no harm. But before he spoke Goliath beat him
to it.
"How can we trust you, Human?
How do we know you're not on Demona and... the witch's side?"
The Human's face became a smooth mask.
"Lancelot Braddock does not fight on Lotor's side. Not now, not ever."
The voice was low and dangerous, so much so that Broklyn took a step back,
watching his leader and the Lancelot fellow face off. Though the
lesser in physical prowress of the two, the human met Goliath's stare and
didn't break away.
Finally it was Hudson who split the
two apart, "That is quite enough lads."
The Human backed up and stared at
Hudson sadly, "It's not enough for me. If I don't get back to the future...
Well without my Red Lion the others can't use Voltron, and without Voltron...
the entire Alliance is under Lotor's mercy. Even without Hagar he'll
be able to cause a lot of damage." Then, like before his mood changed,
and his words were full of guilt and anger. "Maybe if I'd done something
different..."
Hudson laid a hand on his shoulder,
"Nay lad, what's done is done, tis no use to torture thyself with endless
ifs and maybes."
Lance smiled up at him, "Well if I
can't help the guys back home, the least I can do is rid the world of Hagar."
Brooklyn stepped forward, a determined
look on his face, "And for that you'll have help."
