Space Cases/Deep Space Nine X-over
Part One

Radu walked through the corridors of the Christa slowly. It was night and the rest of his friends were still sound asleep, much like Radu had been until he had been awakened by a noise. Right then he was tracking it. Letting the noise guide him to wherever it's origin was.

He'd been following it blindly so when he finally came to the source her was surprised that to find that it was the Team room. As he stepped closer the door automatically slid open.

Inside Suzee turned around in shock staring right at Radu. "What are you doing here? You should be sleeping."

"How can I sleep with so much noise?" Radu looked at what Suzee was working on.

"Sorry. But since you're here, you could give me a hand with this. That is, if you don't mind?"

"Well it doesn’t matter whether I stay or go because with you working in here I'll never get to sleep." He grumbled quietly to himself as he went over to take a look at what Suzee was doing. "What are you working on?"

"Well I'm trying to figure out a way to get Catalina back and get me to Yensid." She spoke as she continued to tinker with her invention.

"I thought you said it would take the power of a ship exploding to switch you two back to your rightful dimensions."

True but I've been working on this for a while and it's almost finished. It might be enough to rip a tear in the dimensional fabric long enough to switch the two of us." She ducked back under the machine. "There's a part over against the wall. Bring it here."

With a shrug of his shoulders Radu bent down and lifted the mechanism up, bringing it to Suzee. Looking down at his pajamas he suddenly wished that he had changed before he'd come to investigat. Holding the piece of metal in one hand he lightly tapped Suzee on the shoulder.

Sliding out from under her invention she smiled at him, "One second. I'll get up and then you can hold it still while I screw it in place."

After that was done she stood back from her work. "Tada!" She lightly slugged Radu in the arm. "Now we have to test it."

"Test it? Shouldn't we ask Commander Goddard before we do that? Just in case."

Suzee stared at him in disbelief. "Radu, the test is just a precaution. It's not like anyone's going to go through. There's nothing that can go wrong, trust me."

Radu watched her for a moment but the two little words, trust me had already caused him to decide. "A-all right."

Suzee stepped over to the controls and started maneuvering the buttons and switches. The 'whooosh' of the jump tubes sounded through the room and Bova popped out, yawning. He looked around and then muttered under his breath, "Figures! I want the dining room and I get the team room. What's that thing?"

"It's an invention of mine…."

"Does it work?" Bova asked, cutting Suzee off.

"We were just about to find out. Want to watch?" Suzee said casually as she went back to configuring the machine.

Bova and Radu watched as a strange bluish-white portal opened up in front of them. The gravitational pull was so strong that it pulled Bova towards it. He was about an inch from the entrance when Radu managed to grab his hand. Though the pull was strong Radu's exceptional balance and strength kept him a safe distance from it but the pull increased until even Radu was loosing ground.

Suzee, who was far enough from the portal to be safe, called Thelma and told the android to get the Commander. Radu could barely hear her, the noise was so loud. His ears felt as if they were going to explode pain was flowing over him and he fought it with every ounce of strength he could muster. But his foot slipped and both him and Bova slid into the portal. The last thing he heard from the Christa was Suzee's scream.

He wanted to give in to the blackness but in case trouble awaited them on the other end he fought it. It wasn't long before they came out the other side. Radu's body flew and smacked right into a strange console. A fresh wave of pain rushed over him but he fought it back down and stood. His vision was blurred but his hearing was still working, "Bova?"

Radu could hear many heartbeats in the room, some human but others he couldn't distinguish. Finally he came across a Uranian heartbeat and moved in that direction, trying to avoid running into anything or anyone. When he reached his friend's side he bent over him, "Bova? Are you okay?"

"I knew something bad was going to happen!" His friend sounded just as pessimistic as ever.

"You're alright?" Radu asked again, his voice full of worry.

"Oh yah I'm just fine! I'm stuck in another dimension, thanks to Suzee's invention, with no way to get back." Then his voice fell silent and when Bova spoke nest it was softly. "Just my luck, the natives aren't too friendly."

As if on cue Radu heard the buzz of electricity as a couple of weapons charged. Then he heard a voice, deep and low, "I am Captain Sisko of the Federation Space Station Deep Space Nine. May I be so callous as to ask you what you're doing on my station?"

"Your space station? Funny I had no idea that you owned it." Bova said sarcastically.

"Bova!"

"Oh. Don't worry Radu. They're just human, anyway."

"Bova!"

"What?"

"Look, um, Captain, sir. You'll have to forgive Bova, he doesn't really mean what he's saying…"

"Oh yes I do!"

"I'm sorry to interrupt you but, well I'm a doctor. Doctor Julian Bashir and I was hoping you'd allow me to give you some medical aid."

Radu was slightly confused, "Medical aid. Bova I thought you said you were okay?"

"I am Radu. The doctor's talking about you."

"Me? But I feel…" Radu felt himself fall to the floor, the room was spinning.

"Radu!" Bova bent down next to him and the doctor did the same moving a strange computer over his body.

"Concussion, broken arm, three cracked ribs… and you're walking?!" The doctor asked in disbelief.

"Radu? Why didn't you tell me you were hurt? Jus ch… you're probably gonna die now." Bova said with a note of helplessness.

"It wasn't important…" Radu's mind was fuzzy but the doctor gave him a shot that cleared his head.

"Wasn't important?" With his vision cleared Radu got his first good look at the people around him. Right then the Captain was speaking to him.

"It didn't really hurt that bad and I had to be ready in case you were hostile." His eyes moved to the weapons some of them were holding.

"Men, put away your phasers…"

"But Captain…"

"Do it, now, Warf."

Radu watched as the 'man' put his weapon away. Then he started to get up, but both Bova and the Doctor shoved him back down.

"No one is going to hurt you so you can relax and let me fix you up a little." Doctor Bashir said as he ran a small handheld machine over his body.

Radu started to protest but Bova interrupted him. "Now, listen here, Andromedan. You've managed to pull the wool over everybody's eyes form one time to another about injuries you've sustained. And yah, I know your race can take a lot of punishment. I mean, you had to because you were slaves of the Spung but these people are human. Just like Harlan, Ms. Davenport, and Commander Goddard. Where we come from we're united forming the U.P.P. so I think that they'll be fairly civilized and if they aren't I'll just electrocute them. So lay down, and relax or I'll shock you into submission. Got it?"

Radu chuckled slightly. "Yes, sir!" Then he finally allowed the balckness to overcome him.
