U2 memories

Hello and welcome. This site is devoted to U2, the fantastic rockband from Dublin, Ireland. I was 17 years old the year 1992, which means I am 25 now. I had heard some songs from the the album "Achtung Baby" and the first song I think I heard was "Mysterious Ways" and after a while "One" and "The Real Thing" Some friends were listening to the album quite a lot. They decided to go to the concert in Stockholm, Sweden the 31st of July in the year 1993. And I asked myself "Why can’t I join them?" I mean it would be cool to have some experience of a big concert, and I have after all listened to some U2 before... I have heard the famous songs like " With Or Without You" and "I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For" That day was rainy, and my friends and I said, it was so typical. When U2 appeared on stage the rain stopped, and you could almost touch the feeling. Bono had such a silly walk, and strange if I may say so. We could hardly see him and the rest of the members in the band. We could only see a person in black clothes. Nevertheless we knew that it was Bono. None of us had been to U2 before and not a concert like this in our lives. There were TV screens all over the stage. I could even see two cars hanging above the stage. stage It was an odd stage and the concert was so energetic. The sound and the performance were so cool. I didn’t recognise all the songs. I did recognise for instance, the song " New Years Day" but I haven’t connect that song with U2, before. Odd? When U2 played "Bullet the Blue Sky" my mate and I said, that we gave the concert 6 points out of 5 possible. The cool thing about the song was that on the screens there were giant burning crosses, and it was so powerful. After the song "Pride", me and my mates had to go or else we would miss our train to Berlin... it seemed sad that it must come to an end. We didn’t realise that we would have to leave early and that compounded the sadness that we would not even see the entire show. That came in handy after all, because U2 got their idea for that album from that city. :-) stage So what did I think of the concert? Well, it was an extraordinary thing and it wasn’t only the ZooTv show, it was mainly the songs, which made me to a U2 fan. U2 is a tremendous live band. There is no doubt about that. It didn’t take long until I bought that album and after now, I think I have almost everyone except for "October" and "Awide Awake In America" That day changed my life. It is pretty daft that a concert could do that, but it did. This experience opened up my soul to music in a way that transcends words, it transformed my musical taste into a more mature palate which I may have never experienced otherwise./the Lemonguy
