DISCOVERY

Sarah Michelle Gellar, sometimes credited as Sarah Gellar, began her career when the rest of us were still having trouble tieing our shoes. At the tender age of 4, Sarah was "discovered" by an agent while eating at a local restaurant in her hometown of Manhattan.

THE BEGINNING OF A WONDERFUL CAREER

Young Sarah didn't start her career as most young stars her age did. Most young stars begin in a family TV show and, if they're lucky, gradually coast into Movie magic. Not our girl!! After discovery, BAM!!! Three weeks later she's on the set of her first film, "An Invasion of Privacy", acting her heart out. Then WHAM!! Within the same month she also landed a commercial for Burger King.
Agent after agent began noticing our Sarah and pretty soon young Sarah's career was under way with such feature films as "Funny Farm", "Over the Brooklyn Bridge", and "High Stakes".

SETTING THE STAGE

Sarah is also a veteran of the stage. She has appeared with Matthew Broderick and Eric Stoltz in "The Widow Claire" at the Circle in the Square. Now, although all of her roles in films, commercials, and on stage weren't exactly large or memorable roles, they gave her much needed experience and a nice little portfolio to show producers.

LIL' BITS OF TV FAME

After her time in films, commercials, and stage, Sarah turned to television where she climbed the ladder to her star status! She started out in TV as a regular hostess on the TV talk show, "Girl Talk." The show flopped after the first few airings though. She then went on to appear in more than 100 commercials and became a Wilhelmina Model. After that she made guest appearences on many TV shows which include: "Spenser: For Hire", "Love, Sidney", "The David Letterman Show", and "The Regis Philibin Show".
Sarah's popularity continued to grow. She landed a part as Sydney Rutledge in a teen soap opera that was highly watched by teens across the US in the late 1980's. The show only aired for one season, but Sarah was becoming more well known!!!

ALMOST AT THE TOP

Febuary 24, 1993 dawned with Sarah's first permanent part on a show. She played Kendall Hart on daytimes Emmy Award winning show, All My Children. She played Erica Kane's (Susan Lucci) daughter from "hell." She was the product of Erica's rape attack at age 14.
Kendall Hart was the role that pushed Sarah into recieving her first Outstanding Young Actress nomination in 1994 for the Daytime Emmy Awards. The next year Sarah did it! In 1995 she won the Outstanding Young Actress award for her evilness as Kendall Hart!!
In 1995 she also sat on a panel of an on-air discussion group along with other actors, among whom were many actors from AMC. They were the hosts of Comedy Central's marathon of the 1970's serialized sitcom Soap.

CHANGE OF SCENERY

After her win at the Emmy's, she made her decision public. She was leaving AMC, the show she was part of for 2 years. She left for the brightness of California to seek new fame in films or nightime television. Boy, was that a great idea!
She gets her big break in 1996 when she landed the character of Buffy on a new television show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, based on the movie by the same name. The show became a hit!! Sarah's popularity sky-rocketed!!
Before she knew it, VVVVVUUUMMM, late 1996 she begins filming her first big movie, "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Soon afterwards she landed a part in "Scream 2", instantly becoming a huge name in the horror world.

THE SWEETNESS OF SUCCESS

1997 was Sarah's big year!! She began taping the 2nd season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and was proclaimed one of TV's 40 Most Fascinating Stars. IKWYDLS was released October 17, 1997. Scream 2 followed soon after! She won a Blockbuster Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Horror Film for her role in IKWYDLS. She also received a nomination for Best Breakthrough Performance in the 1997-98 MTV Movie Awards for her role in IKWYDLS.
1998. This year is proving just as sucessful. With her third season of "Buffy" in the works and three new movies coming soon, all she can say is, "I consider myself an workaholic."

LIL' BIT OF SOMETHING PERSONAL

Sarah isn't "all work and no play Buffy." She's also REALLY involved. She learned to iceskate at the age of three. She came in third place in a NY regional competition. She also came in fourth place in her division in a karate championship at Madison Square Garden. She enjoys rollerblading, water skiing, scuba diving, shopping, and occasionaly goes cliff diving. She has taken Tae Kwon Do for 5 years and is very physically active.
She is a very nice, caring person, with many special talents. She is an amazing actress, and deserves all the respect she gets.
