Malaysia’s best to showcase their talents

AV FEST 2000

Petaling Jaya: The Star’s AV Fest 2000/Music Village hi-fi and home theatre exhibition to be held from Friday to Sunday at the Crown Princess Kuala Lumpur, promises much more than a display of electronic equipment and musical instruments.

Numerous performances featuring some of Malaysia’s best talents have been lined up for the three-day event.

Guitarist/one-man-band Alex Peters, ace drummer Gary Gideon and renowned percussionist Steve Thornton are all expected to play at the exhibition.

Peters will be playing his blend of rock music, which includes numbers from Santana, Sugar Ray, Earth, Wind & Fire and Frank Zappa.

The performance is part of a demonstration of a new guitar product available in the market, the Boss GT-3 guitar multi-effects processor.

Gideon, a pro-session player, will work in tandem with Thornton and entertain the audience with a free-form jam session.

He also stressed the importance of such events for aspiring musicians to learn.

“Please do no ask questions because that is the reason why we’re there,” he added.

Tickets for the AV extravanganza are RM10 per entry, and all gate proceeds will go to charity. Showtime is 11am – 8pm daily. Please refer to the AV Fest 2000 showguide on August 3 for dates and times of the performances.
