Back in April, veteran musician Alex Peters decided to dust the cobwebs off his guitar and songbook and turn up for a month's stint at a prominent nightspot in Bangsar.
The multi-faceted but grossly under-appreciated talent managed to surprise many fans with his low-key return to the live scene.
Indeed, it's been a long time since Peters was last seen in the music headlines - he's been on hiatus for a good five years.
But his comeback shows were well received affairs, where Peters won over a new audience and renewed the confidence of faithful fans who have been supporting his career.
He entertained the masses with a renowned repertoire of classic rock tunes, which in turn, fuelled the passionate flames still burning bright in his rock n' roll soul.
It can't be denied that Peters truly earned the crowd applause each night, with encores and jam sessions being essential parts of such evenings.
And for some good news, Peters is still craving for more live action and just in case you missed out his sensational shows - take note that this one time Top of the Pubs champion is all geared to hit Bangsar again.
This time, Peters is preparing to thrill fans each week with performances at Soleil, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. Peters will perform at Soleil every Thursday evening, starting tonight, right up to the end of the year. Tonight's show coincides with the pub's first anniversary celebrations.
It seems that Peters is returning to his 'roots' in Bangsar. In the early 80s, Peters was a familiar fixture in the Bangsar pub scene for a good three years, from 1981 to 1983.
So, it comes as no surprise that Peters expressed his wish to take on the Bangsar audience again.
For a taste of his upcoming Soleil stint, Peters gave a 'preview' of some of his repertoire and skills at the Revival Studio in Jalan Ipoh, last week.
One of the songs that really caught one's attention was Stevie's Raga - a combination of Indian ragga and black funk music.
"This song was originally written by Frank Zappa and dedicated to Steve Vai. I just did some experimental work on it," explained the 37 year old musician.
"I love to experiment with Indian rhythm, so for Stevie's Ragga, I adjusted my guitar strings to create a sitar feeling and sounds," he added.
His fascination with the guitar great, Vai, has been a major driving force in his approach to music. Peters said that Vai's ability to focus and his abstract spirituality are just two reasons why he (Peters) hopes to get Vai to produce his album.
Peters is now still waiting for a reply from Vai after meeting him earlier this year.
"I gave him a 50-minute demo including Stevie's ragga. And Steve liked my work on Stevie's Ragga. But I know it'll take some time before I hear anything from him as at the moment he is busy doing a world tour."
The demo was the result of grueling hours spent in arrangement and recording - all done by Peters himself. The music was pieced gradually and meticulously.
As for his stint at Soleil, fans can expect some classic rock.
"Over the years, I've garnered a following and they have developed a taste for classic rock. So I think it's more of a psychological connection between us."
"Whenever I introduce new songs in my repertoire, I make sure that the songs are catchy enough for the audience.
"Right from the moment of recording backtracks and mapping the arrangements, I give everything. It's a genuine thing and I know my audience will love it. I give them my all".
