-*-Brian-*-
I can't believe Nick got himself into this mess. "Marissa?! Where are you?" I called from inside our hotel room.
Marissa quietly emerged from the bathroom. "Huh? What do you want Bri?" she asked me.
I stood quiet for a moment looking at her. She seemed to notice and gave me a weird smile. "Why are you putting more makeup on? Didn't you already have some on? Besides we are just going a mile down the highway to pick up Nick and BJ," I replied laughing as she rolled her eyes at me.
"Well you know me!" she said with a sarcastic attitude. She laughed and went back into the bathroom again. Probably to do her hair.
"We need to go now. Knowing Nick he's probably sitting on the outside of the car waiting for me. At the rate we're going he'll have hypothermia soon," I laughed picturing Nick sitting outside in just a sweater.
-*-BJ-*-
Why did I even bother coming on Nick's little trip to Washington this weekend? I switched on the radio. I couldn't stand the silence. Nick is doing something outside but I have no idea what. Obviously he's not fixing the tire. I wish Brian would get here soon. "She's alone in the new pollution," I sang along to the Beck song on the radio.
"Yo BJ," Nick startled me by quickly opening the door on the side I was sitting on. I almost fell out.
"You idiot! What if I would have fallen? It's a long fall from up here," I screamed. Why did he always have to be so immature? I sighed and sat forward in the car waiting anxiously for someone to pick us up.
-*-Marissa-*-
I sat in Brian's jeep looking out onto the road. It was already dark out and it was only noon. A heavy storm must be headed our way. "Brian, we better stay in tonight, It looks like it could be a pretty bad snow storm headed our way," I sighed. So much for our relaxing weekend.
"Marissa?" Brian asked me his voice sounding a little unsure. I noticed his eyes looking off to the side of the highway in front of us. "Is that the car Nick's driving?"
I looked to where Brian's eyes were directed and a wave of panic hit me.
"If I could only have you near, to breathe the silence too . . ."
