When called.....We Answer

We are proud of our activities and involvement in the community. Each member is encourage to be more involved not for the chapter but for personal growth. We pride ourselves on helping even when the chances for public acknewledgement is minimum. When Sigma is needed we try our best to always answer the call.

Iota Iota Chapter has worked with and has been a part of the following activities and groups.

• American Cancer Society: Project SWWAC "Sigma Waging War Against Cancer"
  A project where we promote the awareness of cancer throught programs, informational and donation tables.

• “Partner In Education”
  We officially adopted Laffayette Middle School and provide support for many of their activities as well as mentoring and tutoring.

• American Cancer Society: Coaches vs. Cancer
  Members passed out cancer donation forms at several UL Lafayette Men’s Basketball. We passed over 600 forms. Speculators were ask to donate depending on how many three pointers were made in the game for the home town

• Blood Drives with Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Center
• Family Hope Center - Lock-in

• St. Judes's Hospital "Up 'till Dawn"
  In conjunction with NPHC, the chapter held donation tables throughout semester. On March 30 and 31st, we participate in “Up ‘Till Dawn” which require us to stay up all night in honor of the mothers who stayed up with their kids in the hospital who had some form of cancer. The event went from 5:00p.m to 5:00a.m. On the NPHC’s team, we won third place in the Lip Sync Contest. Next year, the chapter plans to raise $300 for its own team.

• Halloween Trick or Treat in Girard Park
• Boys and Girls Club of Acadian, Grand berry Unit

• SGA Child Development Center
  Members visit the center to play with and read to the children there. Members have spent up to an hour and half with the kids. The teacher told us that both them and the children enjoy us being there.

• Festival of Light

• Teddy Bear Drive for Abuse Children
  During the semester the chapter collects teddy bears and other stuffed animal for abused children in the area.

  MDA Telethon 2001

We plan to continue to work with some of the activities and groups listed while planing new activities and working with new groups.
