The restaurant was almost too perfect. Fancy, but not too fancy. Perfect and that was dangerous. His palms were sweating already.
"Can I help you, sir?" asked the hostess.
"No, not yet, I'm still waiting for someone."
"Alright."
He stood there checking his suit. When he spotted a pair of black high heels, and he forgot checking his suit. His eyes began traveling upward. Traveling over her legs that were revealed from her short red dress. He swallowed hard and continued until his eyes were looking into hers.
He could tell he was blushing. He didn't feel so bad when he noticed she was blushing, too. That made him blush even more.
'I love her.' he told himself and his mouth hung open.
"What's wrong?" she asked concerned.
"Oh, um, nothing." he looked down shyly. "Let's go to our table alright?" He waved the hostess over.
Their laughter filled the restaurant, as Brian finished his story.
"So then Nick was totally freaking out, because I had him convinced he was loosing his hair." he took a sip of his wine. "Eventually, Kevin had to calm him down and explain that he was an idiot." She chucked.
"Wow. You're just too funny." she smiled.
"You're too beautiful." Brian admitted and looked down at his plate embarrassed that he said it.
An uncomfortable silence came over them as they finished their food.
"Well, I'm ready to go." she announced.
Brian pulled up to Dana's house.
"Well here you go." he sounded a little depressed. He couldn't help it though, because the night was coming to an end.
She sighed. "Yeah." Suddenly her face lit up. "Hey, why don't you come inside?"
"Yeah, sure." he answered.
"This night has been pretty nice." she admitted as she turned on the radio.
"Yeah, it really has been." he smiled.
She felt something burn within her. 'He's always had such a magical smile.'
Her thought were interrupted by a fast paced song on the radio.
"This is one of my favorite songs!" she exclaimed and then held out her hand with a playful smile upon her lips.
"May I have this dance?" she asked giggling, feeling silly.
He laughed also and placed his hand in hers. "of course".
They were just jumping around having fun. He twirled her around a couple times. They were just having fun, and then the song stopped.
A slow paced song came on. Their giggles eventually died. Brian then held out his hand to her. "May I have this dance?" he asked in all seriousness.
She looked into his eyes. 'Big Mistake' she thought as she found herself drowning in them. Finding out that she couldn't bring herself to talk, she just nodded her head yes.
He gathered her up in his arms. Neither felt uncomfortable. It felt like that was the way it should be. She leaned her head onto his shoulder. She forgot all about everything in the world. It was just her and Brian. The song ended, but they continued dancing. No one had noticed it was over.
Brian wanted to kiss her. And once he thought about it, it was hard to stop. Until, he lifted her face to look at him and actually kissed her. And she was kissing him back.
"So do you guys think Brian still loves this girl?" AJ asked.
"I don't know, but I do know that their relationship was probably the most important to him." Kevin said.
"Well, it sure looked like they were in love back in the hotel." Nick added.
"Poor Brian." Howie commented.
"What do you mean, Howie?" asked Kevin.
"Well, I'm just saying, well, I feel sorry for him. I mean we all have special places in our hearts for our high school loves. And Brian, well we all know how he is. And for him to come back and find out she's getting married..." he trailed off.
"And he never stopped loving her." Nick finished.
"Poor guy." AJ said.
"Oh my God." Dana broke off their kiss. "We can't." she said.
"I know, I'm sorry." Brian stared at the floor. Tears stung his eyes.
Dana was panicking now. "I'm getting married. I can't do this. I love..." she started crying. Brian let himself out of the house.
Brian stormed into his hotel room, ignoring his friends calling after him. He couldn't believe he had just kissed her. She's getting married! Why did he do that? He buried his head into his pillow and cried tears of sorrow and anguish.
Eventually she stopped crying. She had to make a choice. Either she loved Brian or she loved Josh. It was a hard choice, but she had to make it. It took hours to finally come to a decision. She took a deep breathe and punched in a couple numbers. She had to tell the person she didn't choose, her decision.
