SHARON PAXON CARLISLE--ARTIST, DOLLMAKER. Paxon begins her doll-making with a blob of clay. She sculpts each doll with meticulous care, teeth and tongue in opened mouths, arms, hands, fingers with fingernails, legs and feet. Once the sculpting is done, she makes her own molds and pours them. Most of her dolls have fabric bodies. None are larger than 20", and most are around 12". Paxon hand-paints her dolls. She does not use doll wigs, but puts the hair on a few strands at a time, the way hair naturally grows. She handmakes the dollclothes and other accessories, and she and her jeweler husband create fine jewelry for her dolls. Her most challenging and beautiful work was her two-year-in-the making creation of England's King Henry the VIII and his six wives. These dolls were the result of much research and are authentic in every way. They wear genuine mink (and other furs), genuine 14kt. gold and gemstone jewelry (approx. $700.00 of genuine jewelry.) This is a ONE-OF-A-KIND set of dolls and the appraisal value of the set of seven dolls is $18,500.
