Leonard Nimoy & William Shatner - Spaced Out!

Everyone knows these two played Spock and Kirk on the classic sci-fi TV show 'Star Trek'. But how many people know they recorded albums with songs like 'Spock Thoughts' and 'Highly Illogical'? Well, this CD is a 'Best of-' album, and has them hammering away at their songs.

Their View

The original albums were intended as a project for the cast members to explore their interest in music, while promoting the TV show. Both Nimoy and Shatner had a strong desire to bond with their audiences, and both released albums after the show was canceled. After Shatner released the LP 'The Transformed Man', he said, "I've been entranced with music for the longest time, and the bane of my life is I really can't sing... I'm kind of feeling my way into an area that I'm discovering."

My View

It's all well intentioned, but it's only good music if you really like folk songs. I find that the songs are too simplistic for my tastes, and Shatner's singing will never win him any awards.

The Rating As long as you consider it a novelty you'll be ok. But if you're like the rest of us and want good music, look elsewhere.
