This is a picture of me at the Spring Chorus Concert before I played the piano. I played the "big finish" song, which is sung by chorus every year that started a long time ago. I was lucky enough to accompany the chorus on the piano. I was extremely nervous, but I did great. I was so happy, and when I was almost done playing it, I knew I wouldn't make any mistakes. Well, the chorus made a mistake, they repeated a part one too many times! I had to stop for about one whole measure and then try and pick up from where they were. I seemed to have pulled it off great, because nobody, except for my family and chorus teacher, knew that I made a mistake. I'm glad that's over, but now, I have to play it again with the chorus next year. I'll have to make sure the chorus knows what they are singing before they perform. LOL!
I began to accompany the chorus in 6th grade when I played "Walk Dem Bones" for the spring concert. Then, in 7th grade, I played "Jingle Bell Rock" for the Christmas concert and at the mall. The chorus also messed up on this song at the mall, so bad that I had to just stop playing. Next, I moved on to a harder song which was "Like an Eagle", that's another one that the chorus messed up on. The last song I played with the chorus was "Take Your Dream And Make It Happen". I played that at the 8th grade graduation. In 8th grade, I made a big jump in my piano life. For our Christmas concert at the mall, I played "A New Years Wish" which had the song "Auld Lang Syne" in it, and a song called "Moonlight Sleigh Ride". I was also supposed to play "Cantate Domino", but I wasn't ready yet. About 2 weeks later, The Christmas concert at school took place. I played "A New Years Wish", "Moonlight Sleigh Ride", and "Cantate Domino". I did make some fumbles, but I managed to sound great. Well, it was time for the spring songs, And I had a boat load of them to play. I played a song that my Piano Teacher gave me at the IGSMA solo and ensemble competition, and received a second place. A couple weeks later, the whole chorus went and sang at an a contest. I played every song that we sang there, and they were "Cantate Domino", "Can You Hear The Sounds", And "Great Gettin' Up Mornin'. Next I played 4 songs ate the Spring Chorus Concert. 4!!! I played "Can You Hear The Sounds", "Great Gettin' Up Mornin'", "Turtle Dove", and "Like An Eagle". I played "Like An Eagle" in 7th Grade also. And I am coming back next year to play it for them again. (That is a song that the chorus sings every year.) About a month later, I played 2 songs at the Arts Alive concert. I played "Can You Hear The Sounds", and "Great Gettin' Up Mornin'" there. Last but not least, I started working on 1 more song, "When You Believe" from Prince of Egypt. I played 4 songs at a church banquet. They were "Can You Here The Sounds", "Great Gettin' Up Mornin'", "When You Beleive", and "Like An Eagle". A few weeks later, I played at Chorus On Tour. For that, I played "When You Beleive" at three different Elementary Schools. It was lots of fun. But now I'm done playing the piano for the chorus over the summer, and I don't think I will be able to play at High School. So this is a good bye for now to accompanying the chorus. But I will again someday.
This is a picture of me at the mall when I played Jingle Bell Rock. I LOVE the piano. It was a large, white Grand piano. I want one but it costs too much. Oh well.
I did so good at playing all my piano songs, and that was mostly because of my chorus teacher. She taught me one of the songs that I played, and she isn't my piano teacher, so that was REALLY nice of her. I owe a BIG thanks to her. "THANK-YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!" P.S. I am in the second row, third girl from the left.
