House of Blues - March 26, 1999
This was the first time I met the band.....
My friend Michelle and I arrived very early to the Orgy/Love and Rockets show to insure
our front row positions. Upon entering the House of Blues we rushed to the stage and
got our places....front row, slightly off center (in front of where Paige
would be), and about a whole 12 inches from the stage. We were so psyched!!
We could see them in their dressing room which was above and to the right of the stage. They would peek
out of the windows and wave to us every once in a while.
The show was incredible! We still were not quite prepared for how close they were going
to be to us though. I could see the glitter in Jay's nail polish. Ryan came out first and kinda got the crowd worked up.
Then the rest came out and the first notes of "Dissention" were heard. Jay made great eye contact and he sang a few lines with me and Michelle and
grabbed our hands. Paige grabbed my hand at the end of the show. Paige also stared at me the whole
time which Michelle pointed out to me. I was like "Thank God I wasn't just imagining that!" LOL
Jay moved around quite alot on stage and he really knew how to work the crowd. Amir was doing his little
robotic-like moves and Paige was doing that cute little thing he does with his bass. Ryan was all over his side
of the stage. They were such a joy to watch and they sounded sooo good! We thought being front row and touching their hands were
the high points of the night. We were wrong.
After the show, they went back upstairs to their dressing room. Again, they kept sticking their heads out of the windows
and waving to everyone. Jay tried to throw his towel to Michelle but of course it missed. When we couldn't see them anymore we went
upstairs to the balcony to escape the crowd. We were standing by the stage door, not really expecting to see anything, when out walks Jay!
He came out to sign tickets and talk to people. Naturally, we rushed over and got our tickets signed and he talked to us a little bit.
He took a few people backstage with him but we were too afraid to ask. I kept saying "if only Paige would come out" thinking that he might
remember me. Well guess who finally comes out? Paige came out to see Love and Rockets for a bit and Michelle asked him if we could go back
and party with them. He looked at me and gave me the cutest smile and said "Sure!" All of the sudden, we were being whisked away by Paige
though the backstage door!
They were all sooo incredibly nice! I was kinda prepared for big attitudes but there were none to be found. We got to spend almost an hour and a half with them!
They gladly talked to us and signed our tickets and hugged us when we left. Amir was very quiet but once we got him talking he loosened up a bit. Paige is just so extremely sweet and cuddly....hehe. Ryan and Jay are
big cut-ups, they had us laughing almost the whole time. We didn't get to meet Bobby because had gone back to the hotel already.
