I Miss You Shane
Shane was 19 years old when his life was taken due to a forklift accident at Community Coffee Company in Port Allen, La. where Shane and I worked.
I would like to say that God made sure I was not at work at the time of Shane's death. He spared me of that memory. Shane started working at Community Coffee in Oct. 1998 and was hired full time in March of 1999. He was a very hard and devoted worker.
Although we have been told no one saw what happened at the time of Shane's death, we do know that God's timing is never wrong.
We know that Shane was a man of God and is with Him in heaven. Everyone who came in contact with him couldn't help but love him after they got to know him. His smile brighten your day. Shane is and will be missed by his only sister Ashley, his cousin Kyle, who lives with us, his father, mother, family and many friends.
Shane was very active in his church at Sandy Creek Baptist in Pride, La. He loved his church family very much. He was a peron who made friends very easy. You always got a big bear hug from him. I have learned many things since Shane's death. One is that life is short and we are NOT promised our next minute. Shane lived his life, once he was truely saved, knowing that when it was his time to leave this life he had no worries of where he was going.
I did not always live my life in the same manner. My daily walk with my Lord was not as strong as my son's walk, but Shane has taught me how to serve our Lord and that is with my whole heart and to give him EVERYTHING. Don't wait for your child to leave this world to realize how to service Jesus!!! Shane's death not only opened my eyes but also my heart. Although I miss him greatly, I would not wish him back for I know that he is where he wants to be, serving his Master " Our Lord Jesus Christ". Because Shane and I were so close I know if he were standing right here beside me he would say these words to all of you:
"Don't be sad for me, I am with my Lord, but I beg of you if you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and give Him EVERYTHING, please seek Him and find Him because on the day of Christ's return I want to see all of you again and give you a big smile and a big hug and say "Welcome Home". And like I said when I was there "It's All Good" but up here "It's all Great".
I'd like to thank everyone for all of your love and support that you have and still showning my family during our great loss. Although I know your prayers have been with us I ask if you would please continue praying for us. Please call us anytime and if there is anything you would like to know about Shane please, please don't hesitate to call us or come by. We would LOVE hearing from all of you. God Bless each of you and make sure God is part of your daily walk.
I love you son and my heart aches for you but what more could I ask for, you are in the hands of your Maker.
I WROTE THIS POEM IN MEMORY OF OUR SON ON MAY 19, 2000
"ONE DAY"
Although we did not know
One day we would have to let you go
We watched you grow and grow
There were days you played
And days you stayed underneath our feet
Oh how sweet
We hugged and snugged you as much as we could
But not as much as we should
We saw your smile and heard your laughter
And watched you make the world much happier
For those who knew you, knew "LOVE"
Because that is what you were made of
So don't wait until it's too late
Hug and snug them as much as you can
Because before we knew it "SHANE" was a man
A man he was, but not for long
Because now he is gone
One day we will see him again
But not until the end
At a place far from home
Miss you son with all our heart
Now that we are apart
But we know we will see you soon
"ONE DAY"
"In memory of our son, Shane David"
