Continental Airlines

Houston's Intercontinental Airport located north of downtown, is the hub for Continental Airlines. Just about every type of Continental aircraft can be spotted at Intercontinental. The majority of US travelers headed for Houston are usually routed to Hobby airport located on the south side of town and hub for Southwest airlines. You have to go out of your way to wind up at Intercontinental. Airlines found at Intercontinental include a wide variety of Central and South American airliners, as well as a sampling of European carriers. On one trip there I spotted, British Air, KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, and a Russian An-124 all on the same trip there. Best spot I have found to photograph planes is from the roof of the parking lot next to the international terminal. Surprisingly, parking rates are moderate as long as you don't spend the day there. Security cameras are everywhere, but I have never been hassled while taking pictures there. I have also noticed others doing the same - watching and photographing planes from the parking lot. Continental Airlines provides a varity of aircraft for this shot at Houston's Intercontinental Airport. The aircraft at the top is a 737, the middle one a DC-9 and the one in the foreground a 727.

A brand new 757 taxies away from the gate at Houston's International Airport. Houston Intercontinental is the hub for Continental Airlines. All photographs at Intercontinental were taken from the parking lot adjacent to the terminals.

This was a surprise for me. I have never seen an Airbus at New Orleans International before until this Continental "Golden Tail" showed up. A high wooden fence has now been erected where this photograph was taken from making it a little more difficult to take pictures at Moisant Field. There are only two locations to shoot from as it is.

One of the last of the "Golden Tail's" makes it's final approach to New Orleans International Airport located in Kenner, LA.
