End of the Road
Duo sat in the uncomfortable desk
and listened to the teacher drone on in monotone. Out of the corner
of his eye he noticed a couple of pretty girls watching him with wistful
looks, smiling flirtatiously he winked in their direction and was satisified
to recieve two deep blushes. Looking around the room, though subtely,
he concluded that quite a few of the other students were peering at him
with similar looks and not just girls.
Grinning he stared at his bare desk.
Due to a photographic memory he never needed to take notes. Heero
and Wufei both thought he cheated on his tests because they never saw him
study or pay attention in class. So getting in the high eighties,
they thought, was impossible. He had to bite back a chuckle as the
looks they'd worn came to mind. At the time he'd wished he'd had
a camera.
The bell rung, breaking his train
of thought and he rose out of his seat along with everyone else.
Boy he hated school, still it was a roof over his head and food in his
belly so he couldn't complain. Threading his way through the hallway
he made his way outside, moving to the courtyard's large oak tree.
No matter what was going on in his life he always found the solid and constant
figure comforting.
Pulling out his black shades he slid
them on his face and moved slowly out of the courtyard and hailed a cab,
riding silently to his destination. Paying the driver he stepped
out and read the sign. *Maxwell Cemetary.* Slowly he moved
amoung the graves until he found the one he was looking for.
"Father Maxwell. It's been a
long time... Happy Birthday."
