ONE FOR
THE THUMB!
Brad Cresse's game-winning RBI single in the
bottom of the ninth capped off one of the best rallies in LSU baseball history and gave
the Tigers a 6-5 national title game victory over Stanford. Trey Hodges (5-2) got the win
and the College World Series Most Outstanding Player award after working five fabulous
innings of relief as LSU finished its season with a fifth national title and a 52-17
record.
ONE MORE TO GO...
Solo homers by Brad Hawpe and Ray Wright, a huge
two-run single by Cedrick Harris and some great pitching propelled LSU (51-17) past
Florida State by a 6-3 score Thursday night. The Tigers advance to a winner-take-all
national title game with Stanford Saturday, as the Cardinal blew away ULL 19-9 in the
afternoon game.
PRESSING CRESSE?
LSU has left the pitching staffs of Texas and
Southern California in shambles during its first two College World Series games, but
something seems to be missing.

Stark Differences Between LSU,
UCLA
If youre an LSU baseball fan, its very easy to get spoiled and not realize
exactly how good you have it - especially given how prone we Louisianians are to focusing

ANATOMY OF A 'DOG PILE'
Judging from the pile up at the mound and the ensuing celebration Saturday as LSU defeated
UCLA to earn the right to the play in the College World Series, you may think that the
Tigers were premature with a celebration of that magnitude.

Who Will Be Physical Fitness Champs in Y2K?
Beauregard Parish came into the Elementary Fitness Championship Meet last year as
underdogs, hoping just to finish in the top five. Physical education coaches and meet
officials had no earthly idea that these physically fit 11-year-olds from various rural
towns would walk away with the crown.
