Lucky for all you recent punters, Labyrinth was re-released in September 1999 in the UK and US, so it is now relatively easy to find (did the racket caused by the Save The Labyrinth movement pay off?). It was released on both VSH (normal and widescreen) and DVD format and as a bonus, you also get the ‘Inside the Labyrinth’ documentary on both. The DVD comes with more bonuses and goodies though, such as the uncut doco (all 56 minutes), original 2 minute trailer, production notes & other bits & pieces (depending on whether you get the US or UK version). For the really obsessed, it also comes with 3 other language formats, so you can watch Jareth speak in (inc David Bowie's real voice) four different voices (this is so ridiculous it's fun).

If you live in another country though and can’t get on hand on one of the re-releases, you might be able to find an original release or bootleg, especially if you live in Australia and especially if you live in Perth! These are easier to track down on foot, as I don’t know any online stores that are NOT in the US or UK retailing Laby. Go to your local music store (the more obscure the better, esp if they sell other 'fake' merchandise) or look for the makeshift video sellers in the malls.

In Australia, there’s at least two different bootleg releases (with the original design white cover and the American design black cover) which retail for about AUS$10, and an official earlier release by Empire (with the multi-coloured cover) which I got for AUS$15 (available in both normal and widescreen). The bootleg quality not too bad, it's much better than the "homemade" one one of my friends picked up here! Lesson is not to pay the Goblins in the dark alleys if you’re a huge fan.

Keep an eye out for it on the telly as well - it's on cable all the time, so just tape it! The last time it was played in Aus was August (and everyone bombarded my mobile phone wanting to know if I knew - and of course I did, I mean, come on!)
