The Soundtrack consists of 12 songs, the 5 original numbers specially penned by Bowie for the movie and the original score by Trevor Jones. Personally I like the soundtrack a lot. I have all of Bowie’s studio albums (well for the exception of one … but let's not be picky now!), but this is still one of my favourites. It's dreamy, it flows and weaves and it utilises the main theme very well throughout. It has some beautiful imagery and of course with Bowie aboard you can't help the fact that he contributes his own wonderful imagination to the process (such as the concept of the Underground), making the end result, from so many creative forces put together, something quite original. I love the funny album mix of Dance Magic (I’m also under the impression that the LP single release has a ‘dance mix’ lol) and everyone's favourite - As the World Falls Down - is a beautiful song. My favourite is Underground though - the funky Soul Boy in Bowie never died - it just went into hiding down town! For an 80’s soundtrack, I don’t think it sounds very outdated, it survived very well.

Out of all the Laby items you might want, this is by far the most easiest to find, it’s even easier than finding a copy of the actual movie! To find on foot, visit a quirky indie music store (with unusual titles and great taste), or a huge corporate store which has the soundtrack because it stocks everything. A huge number of stores sell this online, I’ve only listed a few, you might like to shop around to compare prices.

Click here to see scans from the album sleeve - it doesn't come with any lyrics, but it does have some nice glossy pictures instead. There's a one page bad shot of Bowie as Jareth anyway, caught with a weird facial expression :)
