In 1976, a Japanese LP called "Don't Touch That Dial" was released. This album was significant as it captured the return of David Bowie to England, three years after retiring at the Hammersmith. Upon arriving in England, the BPI re-pressed the LP and created an album called "The Wembley Wizard Touches The Dial" and used it in a sting, called Operation Moonbeam, designed to bust bootleggers. The operation was successful, but the BPI came under fire for actually creating the bootleg. This CD probably comes from a copy of the original LP, however, it is made to look like the BPI version -- and even includes photos of BPI agents on the inside booklet. |
