Louisiana Tech signs Rivals #32 ranked running back in 2006:
Last year Tech signed Louisiana record setting running back Patrick Jackson of West St. John’s High School. This year's gem is running back William Griffin of Patterson, LA. Here are the signees of one of the WAC's top 2 recruiting classes this year.

William Griffin, 5-11 210, RB, Patterson HS, Patterson, La. Rivals.com's #32 ranked RB nationally. All-state and the Louisiana Class 3A state MVP by both sportswriters and coaches as a senior. MVP of All-St. Mary’s Parish team, MVP of District 7-3A. Rushed for 2,003 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior. Second team all-state at running back as a junior.

Daniel Porter, 5-11 190, RB, Istrouma HS, Baton Rouge, La. Helped lead Istrouma to the District 6-4A title as a sophomore and the state playoffs all three years … Named the District 6-4A offensive MVP as a senior … Named first team all-state, all-district and Baton Rouge Advocate All-Metro … Also the offensive MVP on the Baton Rouge Advocate All-Metro team … Named to the Pelicanprep.com first team … Rushed 204 times for 2,034 yards and 34 touchdowns as a senior and caught 28 passes for 242 yards and one TD.

Myke Compton, 5-9 195, RB/S, Tucker HS, Atlanta, Ga. Georgia Class 4A all-state. Rushed for over 1,300 yards and 22 touchdowns as a running back while also registering 100 tackles as a safety and returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Returned two punts for touchdowns and two kickoff returns for touchdowns.

William Taylor, 6-6 292, OL, Wayne County HS, Buckatanna, Miss. Helped lead Wayne County to the District 5-4A titles his junior and senior seasons and the Class 4A state runner-up in 2005 … Named first team all-state and first team all-district as a senior … Named Prep Sports first team all-area … Invited to scout.com and nike.com combines.

Cudahy Harmon, 6-8 315, OL, John Tyler HS, Tyler, Texas. Helped lead JT to an 8-3 mark as a senior and the state playoffs. A four-year starter on the John Tyler varsity basketball team.

Gregory Greathouse, 6-5 245, OL, Evangel Christian Academy, Shreveport, La. Played on the defensive line for the Eagles as a junior and on the offensive line as a sophomore and senior … Helped lead Evangel to the Louisiana Class 5A state title in 2004 and the Louisiana Class 1A state title in 2005 … Also helped lead the Eagles to the Louisiana Class 5A state runnerup title in 2003 … Three time district champs … Named first team all-district as a junior … Named first team all-district, all-area (Shreveport Times) and all-state as a senior … Named to Louisiana Football Magazine’s Preseason All-State team prior to senior season.

Robert McGill, 6-6 250, OL, Ouachita Christian HS, Metairie, La. Helped lead Ouachita Christian to the state semifinals before falling to eventual state champion John Curtis … Caught 34 passes for 603 yards and nine touchdowns … Registered 66 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and four sacks … Named first team all-district, first team all-Northeast Louisiana (News-Star) and first team all-state as a senior at tight end … Also named honorable mention all-district as a senior at defensive tackle.

Clayton Chambers, 6-5 235, TE, West Monroe HS, West Monroe, La. Helped lead West Monroe to the Louisiana Class 5A state title his senior season and state runner-ups in 2003. All-state honorable mention, News-Star All-Northeast Louisiana team.

D’Anthony Smith, 6-2 305, DL, Pickering HS, Pickering, La. Started all four years on the defensive line for the Red Devils … Helped lead Pickering to the District 5-2A title in 2005 … First team all-district three times … Named to the Leesville All-West CenLa team three times and Alexandria Town Talk’s All-Cenla team three times … Named to the American Press All-Southwest Louisiana team twice … Named the District 2-5A defensive player of the year as a junior … Named the defensive MVP as a junior on the All-Cenla, All-Southwest Louisiana and All-Vernon Parish teams as a junior … Registered 80 tackles, (35 solo), five tackles for loss and three sacks as a senior … Also played basketball for four years … Threw the shot put on the track and field team for four years and was the district champ in the shot as a freshman, sophomore and junior … Won the Louisiana Class 2A state title in the shot put as a junior.

Eric Harris, 6-2 295, DL, West Feliciana HS, St. Francisville, La. First team all-district as a sophomore, junior and senior, first team all-state as a senior. Recorded 81 total tackles, including 29 solo stops and 52 assisted tackles as a senior … Registered 30 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Jared Parten, 6-3 270, DL, East Mississippi CC/West Lauderdale HS, Meridian, Miss. Mississippi Junior College all-state team … Invited to play in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star game … Registered 20 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles for East Mississippi. High School: Meridian Star All-Area team selection … Voted Region 5-3A most valuable defensive player … Named all-district … Participated in the Mississippi North-South All-Star game … Named to the Clarion-Ledger’s Top 40 … Was also a member of the schools powerlifting team and won the state championship as a senior in the 242 weight class.

Ramone Randle, 6-3 270, DL, Booker T. Washington, Shreveport, La. Helped lead Booker T. Washington to the District 1-3A title in 2005 and the third round of the state playoffs … Named first team all-city as a junior and senior … Named first team all-district as a junior and senior … District 1-3A defensive MVP as a senior … Named second team all-state as a senior and all-state honorable mention as a junior … Registered 96 tackles, six sacks and two interceptions during his senior season.

Randy Grigsby, 6-4 250, DE, Ruston HS, Simsboro, La. Nicholas Narcisse, 6-4 230, DE, St. James HS, Vacherie, La. Played quarterback, tight end, linebacker and defensive end during his high school career. Helped lead the Wildcats to the state playoffs as a freshman, junior and senior, including the state semifinals as a freshman and junior. Terrance Freeman, 6-5 225, DE, Newton HS, Newton, Texas. Helped lead Northwest High School to the state playoffs as a junior … Named first team all-district as a junior … First team all-parish (Daily World) and first team all-Acadiana (Lafayette Daily Advertiser) as a junior … Registered 90 tackles (58 solo), 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks and three interceptions in only seven games as a senior (missed three games due to injury) … Registered 61 tackles (37 solo), nine tackles for loss, five sacks and one interception playing defensive end as a junior … Also played basketball as a senior and threw the shot put as a junior.

Christopher Pugh, 6-3 220, LB, Coahoma JC/Southern Choctaw HS, Silas, Ala. Named first team all-state and all-region in 2005 at Coahoma Junior College. Totaled 73 tackles and 12 sacks (the most in the Mississippi JC ranks). High School: Led Southern Choctaw to three straight District 1-2A titles and the 2002 Alabama Class 2A state title … Named first team all-district, Birmingham News Class 2A All-State, Mobile Register All-Super State and Mobile Register All-12 as a senior … Named the Class 2A Lineman of the Year by the Birmingham News … Was named the team’s defensive MVP as a junior and senior … Totaled 196 tackles during the team’s 14-0 state title run along with six sacks and eight fumble recoveries.

Christopher Lowery, 6-2 230, LB, Pearl River CC/Petal HS, Petal, Miss. Junior College: Helped lead Pearl River to the 2004 Mississippi state title as well as the National Junior College championship title … Also led Pearl River to the 2005 state title … Named second team all-state as a sophomore and was a preseason honorable mention All-American selection. Marquis McBeath, 5-11 225, LB, Pearl River CC/Moss Point HS, Moss Point, Miss. Junior College: Helped lead Pearl River to the 2005 Mississippi Junior College state title … Ole Miss: Signed with Ole Miss out of high school … Redshirted in 2003 and saw limited action in 2004. Joseph Danna, 6-5 225, QB, Blinn JC/DeMatha HS, Brenham, Texas. Shalamar Walker, 6-0 180, DB, Pearl River CC/East Marion HS, Columbia, Miss. Helped lead Pearl River to the 2004 Mississippi state title as well as the National Junior College championship title … Also led Pearl River to the 2005 state title …Named all-state as a sophomore. High School: Helped lead the Eagles to the District 8-2A title junior and senior seasons and the state playoffs … Named all-district at safety as a senior Played four years on the East Marion baseball team as a centerfielder.

Antonio Baker, 5-11 200, DB, Amite HS, Amite, La. Helped lead Amite to four straight District 9-3A titles … Helped Amite win the 2004 Louisiana Class 3A state title … Named District Defensive MVP as a senior … Named first team all-district as a senior and second team as a junior … Named honorable mention all-state as a senior … Also played baseball for four years.

Christopher Riser, 5-7 170, WR, North Shore HS, Houston, Texas.
