A little bit about our village of Fisher
- The Village of Fisher is the last of the Louisiana Sawmill towns built during the lubering heyday at the turn of the century and was built as a company-owned town following the incorporation of Louisiana Long Leaf Lumber Co. July 15th, 1899. It ws the largest sawmill in Sabine Parish and the most Important one on the KCS Railroad.
- In 1966, Boise Cascade purchased the property, subdivided the town and sold it to the residents. The residents incorporated it and organized the Fisher Heritage Foundation, Inc. a non-profit corporation dedicated to its preservation.
- In 1971, the KCS Railroad presented the foundation with the depot, and in 1972, Boise Southern conveyed the office complex to the foundation. The property included 9 1/2 acres of land containing the office building, commissary, opera house, post office, paved village squar, tree-shaded park and
- In 1979, the village was designated a Louisiana Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Districts.
