Hedgie.Com Everything you ever needed to know
*Iz is a 3 and half year old African Pigmy hedgehog.
*She is not a rodent but an insectivore like a shrew or anteater.
*Iz’s tongue is almost as long as she is.
*Hedgehogs are NO relation to the porcupine who is a rodent. Iz wants it known that she isn’t a rodent or a rat.
*She is tame but can bite, like any other animal if pushed.
*Hedgehogs are nocturnal and near sighted. Since Iz is my editor that should explain all of my typos.
*Her quills are pointy but she keeps them down so she can be petted.
*Folklore holds that the hedgehog is a scholar who knows one important thing. So far Iz is holding out on me.
*Before the puritans settled America, Groundhog day (February 2nd, Candlemass) was originally Hedgehog Day, so Iz is proud to have her very own holiday.
*When scared she rolls into a complete ball.
*Hedgehogs eat bugs like crickets and meal worms, but Iz is a picky eater.
*An undomesticated hedgehog can kill a snake.
*Hedgehogs are native to Africa, England, Germany, Finland and surrounding areas.
*Iz is litter box trained…well she is a Southern lady so what else did you expect?
*She loves to ride in the car and travels often.
*Iz is a fancy hog and has two vacation homes, one in Charlotte NC and the other in Philadelphia, PA.
*Iz was born in South Carolina.
*Her favorite show is The Myth Busters
*My friends sent one of Iz’s photo Christmas cards to the White House and we received a thank you letter with an autographed picture of the president. Home
