May twenty five, one thousand eight hundred sixteen [May 25, 1816], Michel Bernard Barriere, priest of this parish, St. Landry of Opelousas, Solemnly baptize the enfant twin, born first, January 16, 1813 legitimate son of John Close of Nelson County, Kentucky and Euphrosine Barré, of this parish; The [___] paternal are Jacob Close of North Carolina and Jeanne Farrow/Farrar of Virginia; the maternal ones are Mr. Charles Barré of New Orleans and Magdelaine DeCuire of Pointe Coupee; having exercised the ceremony, I today gave the name Joseph, and his parents add those of Hicbee-Close [Higbee-Close]; the godparents are William Pitt Hicbee [Higbee] and Emilie Barré, his wife. Mig. Bernd. Barriere, Priest NOTE: The name of the godfather was William Pitt HIGBEE.
